"US man eats McDonald’s three times a day for 100 days – and the weight falls off."
"Kevin Maginnis, 57, from Nashville says he ate half-portions of McDonald’s thrice daily and lost about 60lbs (26kg) in weight."

Regardless of how anyone insists on complicating things, it really is all about ‘calories in / calories out’…

Yeah, some people make it much too complicated by insisting on maintaining or even improving their health and losing fat while, and after, they lose weight.
If all a person wants to do is lose weight, just stop eating for a few days. Drink lots of water. Done. Far better for your long term health to fast instead of eating fast "food" (ie, substances that are manufactured to be addictive and unhealthy). But, just weight loss? That's easy.

It's been so many years now that I don't remember when, but the last time I had a "fast food" vanilla milkshake, it smelt/tasted like plastic.

I'm not sticking up for 'fast food', but I know more than one person that made it past 90 in relatively good shape, and they ate at least one meal of 'fast food' just about every single day...

Billfish might be able to back me up on this, but in the NYC area most of the White Castle hamburger joints are open 24 / 7, and there was plenty of times in the early morning hours after a marathon shift of working the previous day, immediately followed by a long night of running all over the place on emergency 'standby' I'd stop and get something that I could eat while driving home. Inevitably there would be a shit load of old timers on the far side of 80 sitting in there and eating their breakfast of cheeseburger(s) and a cup of coffee...

U are an elevator technician if I recall correctly. Right & left hemispheres of the brain gotta sync’ for that job. That’s also a staunch union job, no? Good pay as I recall.

Commercial and Industrial Refrigeration & HVAC. There’s usually lots of money on the line as far as product loss in some of the accounts, so with the relatively high union pay scale & benefits there comes lots of STRESS. Things need to be figured out and sorted quickly or else ! … 🤨

I'm not sticking up for 'fast food', but I know more than one person that made it past 90 in relatively good shape, and they ate at least one meal of 'fast food' just about every single day...Right ......... And they did that since they were weaned, right? Oh, wait a minute, fast "food" didn't exist until they were already quite old, but of course, with your inside info, you know that they ate fast "food" every day as soon as it became available to them in their lifetime, don't you? Everything being in constant flux, fast "food" has benefitted from all of the chemical and production upgrades in commercial agriculture (no such thing as real fast "food") over the years, along with increases in chemicals and additives to recruit more "users" (their term - as in drug user) of their product. So, when those 90 year olds were teeny boppers ...... oh wait, no, they were much older the first time they ate any fast "food", weren't they?...... anyhow, at the introduction of fast "food", I have no doubt it was "healthier" than it is today, just like TV was much more pure and moral entertainment than today, don't you agree? As I mentioned on the other thread, our body is quite resilient and can bounce back from a lot of insults, but consistently poisoning it will eventually kill it, so keep consistently eating lots of fast "food" and soda pop m8s, never detoxify, just count calories and you'll soon be skinny and dead. No, you didn't hit any nerves. I'm not angry or agitated, if that was your goal, sorry to disappoint. I'm only trying to balance out ridiculous, CNN type sound-bite statements like, "It really is all about calories in/calories out". If by "IT" you mean ONLY weight loss which was the topic of this thread, with no consideration for health, then, yes, you will likely become lighter by under-eating/restricting calories (ketosis - although that is still an incomplete understanding due to the way the body burns macros, how nutrients can influence the burn rate, etc). If health is any consideration at all, then the statement, "It really is all about calories in/calories out", is nothing more than silly and spins it up, MSM sound-bite style, to popularize an incomplete understanding for people who don't think about obtaining health, but instead, lay the responsibility for their health at the feet of some perceived authority like those drug pushing MD quacks.

Oh, almost forgot to mention that up until they banned smoking indoors, at least half of the old timers eating their cheeseburgers and coffee breakfast at White Castle would also have a cigarette burning at the same time. It was truly a sight to behold, the way they’d take a bite out of the burger, wash it down with a sip of coffee, and then take a drag on the cigarette, all without skipping a beat. Either commenting on current events or perhaps telling the same story they’d probably told a thousand times before…
