I don't know Michael, but maybe you could warm up your workout Well Andy99 tried it on several years back and his picture of him going down Hindenburg-wise in flames certainly proved to one and all that some training methods are simply not on.
Mind you, his nerve force must have been well-honed. He was still smiling while his arse was on fire !

LOLOL! I heard they coated A99's KB with some transdermal cream and then sprayed some Lithy-O-Lifeless ( ) on it. The flames were crazy, but, the ended up melting the KB before melting a hole in the floor. But, I did hear Blackened Bolt was applying for a job to milk black ants, but, he was practicing on a pile of red ants...?

You missed or ignored the point of my post: guys like Macky, Whiffet, Bruce, Billfish, Spuds, etc., etc., have "been there, done that". They've learned and improved. Found better ways than the original claims or recognized the claims were BS. I love the Convict Conditioning book -- if I wanted to get into BW, to me this would be the entry book for training and I've given it to a couple of nephews to get them started with BW vs. the nonsense on the muscle sites and such. But, early in the book, there are the same lies such as those from your buddy over on that other site such as push ups heal your shoulders...no. They don't. Exercise puts a joint and connective issue through wear and tear, unless you're talking isometrics and even then isometrics DO cause compressive forces in the joints -- again, contradictory to the bullroar on another site. Just do a deadlift or squat isometrically and see if there isn't pressure in your spine or even knees. Macky -- whom I consider far, far more versed on isometrics than me -- and I have had discussions on this and I believe he's in 100% agreement. We've heard your story. We've heard about the so called "warrior" site with some guy sitting in some room and other people. But are you asking Whiffet about his story? How he got so jacked? Ripped? The guy should be on the cover of Men's Health. Are you asking Billfish about his kick-ass training approach to include his BW and odd object training and boxing experience? How about MBS? The guy looks like Frank Zane without steroids. Have you asked him about his training or diet? Fastfor40 has run marathons, competed in bodybuilding competitions has great training recommendations. And JosefZ. The guy looks like the Wolverine in his photos and the results are from a pretty safe and straightforward workout. Michael...the guy's chock full of great advice and despite having suffered some serious injuries, this guy's ripped and out man-handling trees all day. I've learned considerably from each of them. Yep 100% agreement. All of the above post including the summaries of the trainers. How can one apply effort (doesn't have to be max) into an overcoming isometric position and not have various forces acting on the joints. Even a standing isometric curl will have a degree of spinal engagement. Squats, deadlifts far more so. Overcoming isometrics don't magically disengage the joints. I've hurt my elbow on an isometric.

Tuition fees, three months of hard training, all down the drain due to BB going to the red ant course instead of the black ant course. His wife was sympathetic. "Don't wear your fargin sunglasses to class next time, Bentbonce !!"
Andy99 really got himself into trouble when they coated his 20kg kettlebell with Old Boston. The delightful smell of the OB was too much. Half way through his swing, he couldn't help himself and now he's got a lump in his throat.
Not to be outdone (as usual) the Isometric King grabbed a 30kg KB and started up on maximum-amplitude full swings going faster and faster, showing off like he always does. Finally winding himself into a frenzy, Jackson disappeared up his own jacksie and hasn't been seen since. One thing good about it though, he can reach things off the benchtop without using a stepladder these days.

Well, maybe we can help out good old Andy99 -- seems Logan Christopher knows of some tea that he uses daily to throw up. Maybe when BB heads out to milk the black ants he can get ahold of that "special" tea and ship some back for Andy99 to rid himself of that lump? Also, that tea may help with the Lilly Silliness diet program?

Texas, all the gentleman you mentioned earlier, are a wealth of information, and are very knowledgeable, At 60 , I consider myself in pretty damn good shape, except for a few injuries that I have or have had, I am always in the market to learn from anyone on this site, a lot of smart and great information here, I have learned an awful lot from you too! You know your stuff. Being open minded to different things as one gets older is important, I’m very glad that the members here have the knowledge that they do, I’m guilty of falling into the trap of high rep daily push ups yrs ago, learned the hard way, some exercises work for some people , some don’t, it’s kind of like a trial and error thing.

So I was wondering if anyone has had any success with Furey's exercises. Such as muscle and endurance improvements, fat burning in record time. Flexibility. Strength increases, etc.
The reason I am asking is because we are mentioning his exercises.
Keith.

Strength increases, etc. The reason I am asking is because we are mentioning his exercises. Keith. I think I gave it a fair shot...emphasized his Combat Conditioning approach for several months, very little weight training during that period. Much like Fastfor40 found with his experiment, I lost absolute strength with regards to functional exercises like deadlifts, clean & press, etc. My bench press dropped. Flexibility -- I actually worked into a full gymnast's bridge after three months and was able to hold it --something I couldn't do before. Also purchased an Ab Wheel based on Matt's writings and worked up to 42 roll outs from my knees before it started bothering my back, never pulled it off from standing. (But, at 6'3" not sure if I have the leverage to do so...) Fat burning? No. Furey -- like so many others -- equate strength training (or in this case, BW training) with fat burning. Abs start in the kitchen, plain and simple. I've posted this before and believe it is accurate: if you look at the cover of the Furey's original CC book where he's in front of a waterfall in China? He was reportedly following Brooks Kubik's Dinosaur Training (and allegedly helped Kubik write a book/create a board that was quite similar in appearance and price to Furey's on site and publications). See the abs? He was on a diet similar to "The Zone" by Dr. Barry Sears -- moderate carbs, protein and fats -- which he'd discussed on his site. We haven't seen Furey's abs since, ! (Sorry Matt!) But, even Matt has changed his tune -- I still get his newsletter once in a while or pop in on his site: instead of the high rep stuff in his early books, he is talking higher tension/slower reps in his workouts: (https://www.mattfurey.com/short-and-quick-workouts/) Please note: not ragging on bodyweight training. It is an absolutely fine tool and many, many people thrive on it and it is part of my routine.

Michael--what deucegunner posted, thanks deucegunner. There seem to be many variations on the sun salute, there are a number of videos on youtube showing it. I don't recall seeing the upward and downward dog done as part of the typical sun salute but it's OK by me. The lady in the vid is also doing them very slowly, whereas the Hanuman Power guy, I think, prefers doing them fast. These are probably a safer thing to do than hindu squats and pushups, I remember Uncle Mal saying that all the Indian wrestlers had bad knees from the hindu squat. I remember that yoga book I had said that the sun salute induced perspiration, and I remember that I was sweating like crazy doing them, much more so than you would expect...maybe it stimulates your energy system, or something? All this has gotten me interested in doing them again...and we'll see how it goes.

Agreed, I remember that picture of Furey and yes it was when he was doing weight training.
If you look at pictures of him, yes his legs are still big but he never had the development as he did in that picture.
Even the testimonials he got from people saying how good his book was, we never saw any pictures of their progress.
Fat burning should always start in the kitchen, even if you lost some weight by not altering your diet, it will grind to a halt, then your diet would have to be altered for the fat loss to continue.
I have tried both high reps and slow reps with bodyweight training.
At the moment in my training I am using a combination of both weight training and bodyweight training.
Keith.

There was a recent thread where we talked about burning fat. As a result, this was my take-away .....
To burn more stored fat than glucose:
1. Fix/optimize diet - I think most already know what to do.
2. Build muscle. More muscle burns more fat whether you're moving or at rest. Leg muscle is the largest, so building leg muscles and moving them is biggest bang for effort. (Although, I prefer non-body-part-specific compound exercises, not focused on any particular body parts.)
3. Opt for low level activities like walking or just continually moving about with housework, chores, stretching, etc. The more strenuous the activity is (which requires more glucose than fat to fuel), the less fat is burned. So, walking burns more fat per minute than more strenuous activities like jogging, swimming or running.
