My digestion has never been particularly good, but since roughly late 2022, it has been really bad. I started getting this crippling chest pain that would often last for hours after meals. I eventually figured out that this is caused by gas that gets trapped into my chest and causes enough pressure to be painful. In fact, the pressure is so great, that pretty much every day, I have moments where my left nostril gets clogged up, also clogging my left ear in the process, and whenever that happens, when I swallow my saliva, a loud and ticklish "pop" happens. This is usually something that happens if I'm laying down trying to sleep, and at that point my only choice is to get out of bed and force myself to belch, because that doesn't work if I'm lying down. This has been ruining my sleep pretty bad, especially the clogged nostril, because it makes me mouth breath, which is bad for rest. Reading this, you'd probably assume that I'm obese and eat all day long, but it's wrong; I've actually been underweight my whole life and still am. It's been particularly bad this week, and I struggle to finish my meals, which is why I've decided to try to seek help here.
I'm looking for solutions that don't involve buying products, simply because I'm not a fan of the idea of becoming dependent on something external for my health. I'm thinking that there must be something that has gone wrong with one or several of my digestive organs, like maybe low stomach acid that would cause food to go undigested in my intestines, leading to an excess of gas. Although, interestingly, it's worth noting that all this gas only goes up, I pretty much never fart, which maybe contributes to the problem. I've tried multiple youtube videos on bloating, and so far none of them have helped. Does anyone have any idea?

There are these people that go to school for many years to study not only matters like yours but matters that pertain to maladies effecting most every part of the human body. Many become specialists in specific areas as well as functions of the human body. They have the services of numerous technical specialists who can perform tests that tell them what they need to know to diagnose these matters. The are called medical doctors. I suggest you consult one.

I agree about MD's. They are worse than useless for chronic health issues.
1. Do you eat ANY of the toxic gluten grains - barley, rye, oats, wheat or spelt ("BROWS")? Even a tiny bit in salad dressings, condiments, spices, drinks, etc, is harmful, plus .... all processed food is suspect since most of it contains them as filler. Even wine makers (not all) use wheat to filter their product. I discovered that the toxic glutens had to be eliminated from my diet and, for me, it had to be an obsessive, anally detailed chore, but I worked it out eventually ..... mostly. I still have occasions where I get caught because I don't vet every single ingredient in a food item that I didn't prepare myself.
I must KNOW every single ingredient to avoid all hint of the toxic glutens in order to remain pain free. Even the presence of toxic glutens being packaged in bulk bags where the vendor is also packaging things that I CAN eat - like nuts/seeds - has set me off, since the toxins are floating in the air and some of it goes onto everything they package. If you notice, packages of nuts in the grocery now state when they are "packaged in a facility that also packages blah, blah, blah, dairy and WHEAT" ..... no good, but I've found not all bagged foods mark this, especially back in the time when I was figuring this out, so I had to go by trial and the error indicator ...... pain.
This is my life now, but I'm used to it. It took about 4 or 5 years to fully adjust my eating and diet, but well worth it. I've gone on to ID other diet insults, one being dairy which was the last major thing for me and, since I love certain cheeses, I hated to see it go, but I'd rather feel good.
2. For temporary and immediate help, and for long term maintenance, have you tried live, apple cider vinegar to add stomach acid for digestion? I use enzymes also if I have a flare up. Live sauerkraut or other fermented veggies are also helpful and I like them, but I just eat them occasionally.
Really though, once I removed the toxic glutens COMPLETELY, it was the biggest boost and an unmistakably noticeable improvement in my condition, and it only took 3 or 4 days to notice it ..... but it took about 4 years before I was confident to leave the house without a roll of TP. I've mentioned this before .... After telling a friend about the damage done by the toxic glutens, she eliminated them. When I next saw her, she said what she noticed was that her brain fog dissipated within days and it was quite noticeable .... she wasn't even aware that she'd had brain fog prior to elimination, so it kinda blew her mind, she was amazed that it would make that much difference. Even beginning to eliminate the largest sources of the toxic glutens will bring some amount of relief that you can feel, but I wouldn't stop there. I would take it seriously enough to be willing to offend people by refusing the food they have prepared for me. I know that may seem rude to them, but as I explain and apologize, it will keep me happy and comfortable at their party. My friends are totally OK with this. It's all in how I present it to them. I carry the double strength "Glutenease" by Enzymedica with me at all times now, just in case I screw up and get caught.
Another toxin that I would eliminate as much as possible is refined sugar.
Anyway, this is my initial offering. I hope it's helpful. Questions are welcomed and there are others here who have been down this road who may have suggestions also. Disclaimer: I am not a doctor ......... not a virologist either ........ and I thank God for that.

As stated, a good medical doctor is the answer. The rest, assumptions at best and witchery at worst.

I agree. If you have a good HOLISTIC doctor who will take a couple hours to go over your way of living, environment, diet, etc, it could be quite helpful. MD's were unable to help at all, except to prescribe drugs as a bandaid, eventually needing more drugs, and to suck me into their merry-go-round system of going to this "specialist" and that "specialist", but never knowing, discovering or addressing the actual CAUSE. After all, if the MD's were to resolve your chronic health issues, they would lose the revenue from your 10 minute visits as a repeat customer and the drug sales they have been trained to vend. "Doctor" means "teacher". A GOOD holistic doctor is interested in teaching you how to maintain your health so that you don't need their help which makes the upfront cost higher. I couldn't afford the quality of help that a holistic doc might provide, so I had to figure it out on my own.
What I posted earlier is totally anecdotal, of course, so just ignore me if you like.

Dr John Whitman Ray—
Point 1
The first problem we have had to confront in restoring health to the people is the problem concerning poor digestion. The physical body is born with a certain amount of enzymes to maintain health and vitality. When these enzymes are depleted in the physical body the body becomes diseased and gradually expires. One must maintain a constant enzyme supply through proper food intake that one may maintain and regain good health and vitality.
In this "civilisation", due to improper eating habits, we have knowingly or unknowingly reached a point where our bodies are severely depleted of enzymes. The long standing intake of processed and devitalised foods, and the continual intake of cooked food wherein all enzymes are destroyed at a temperature greater than 116° Fahrenheit (46 2/3° Centigrade), brings us gradually to a state of enzyme deficiency wherein our bodies are now operating at levels whereby we can no longer properly digest the food we eat. Thus, we cultivate all types of illness due to our body's inability to cope with current day pollutions in the air, water and food, due, in part, to enzyme deficiencies.
Now, due to severe enzyme deficiencies, the body is no longer capable of digesting protein, fats and carbohydrates, which are necessary to maintain health. When protein is only partially digested and when carbohydrates are only partially digested these undigested proteins and carbohydrates (polysaccharides) accumulate in the body fluids and tissues and form what is known as mucoprotein. This mucoprotein is a conjugate of the undigested protein consisting of long chains of polypeptides and the undigested carbohydrate. Mucoprotein is also known as trapped plasma protein. This accumulation of mucoprotein in the interstitial spaces (that space which exists between the capillaries and the cell structures which is filled with interstitial fluid) is the main contributing factor to lymphatic congestion. This mucoprotein accumulation is indicated in an Iris-Sclera Integrated Diagnosis by the lymphatic rosary or tophi in the zone 6 region of the Iris of the eye.
Due to this widespread enzyme deficiency problem, we only have a partial output of hydrochloric acid from the stomach. Hydrochloric acid lowers the pH factor in the stomach to a level of between 2-3 pH, which then allows the pepsin to digest the protein masses which are present as a result of eating. All this takes place in the stomach. If there is not enough hydrochloric acid produced by the stomach to lower the pH, then the protein is not broken down into a fluid form (chyme), which is then not fully acted upon in the small intestine to turn the protein into vital amino acids. Also due to the long standing enzyme deficiency problem, there is an insufficient amount of pancreatic enzymes such as lipase which digests fats, amylase which digests carbohydrates, and protease which digests protein. Thus, proper digestion does not take place and nutritional deficiencies are the result.
The intake of Grainfields Powder, which is a pre-digested form of protein, carbohydrate and fatty acids helps to solve this major problem. By using a special process of fermentation to pre-digest a carefully selected source of nutrients, these nutrients are made possible to enter the body without the need for an effective digestive system. This is a very important point to fully comprehend that we may take the right steps to bring our body to a state of good health. Grainfields Powder is an essential product to help solve the problem of nutritional deficiencies due to poor digestion.

I don't see anything wrong with seeing a specialist. Of course You can do other stuff but if You don't know what is wrong where do You start. I did an endoscopy because I had no idea what was going on. You want to makes sure it is nothing serious. There are no doctors on here, if You don't know what's going on than You could just be spinning Your wheels. Than of course nutrition is most likely the next course of action. Everyone is not the same and every problem may not be treated the same way.
Edit: One thing I forgot to mention is that there were foods that I was eating that I was allergic to that caused my problem. I know that Mikey mentions gluten, but the foods I was allergic to were not gluten. I found this out by getting a food allergy test. Nether doctor/specialist gave or forced medicine on me. It was stop eating the foods You're allergic to, duh. My problem may be different than Your's. Hopefully there is nothing seriously wrong with You. But what if it's something with Your heart or anything else? You can go to doctors to see what the problem is so You can start somewhere.

There are hundreds of websites that teach fermentation and you don’t need fancy equipment, but for $20, you can get everything you need. I understand your reluctance to seek Western medicine , it’s an absolute failure especially with chronic health conditions. Traditional medicine has almost killed my wife and absolutely destroyed her health, but alternative medicine has saved her life repeatedly. Let me know if you need help.

ilya, you are probably eating something that doesn't agree with you. I spent years fucking about with doctors and getting nowhere. Go to a naturopath that can run some tests to find out what foods are not working for you. When you stop eating them your digestion will improve. Stop eating carbs after a meal that contains nuts, meat, fish or eggs. I used to eat fruit after my dinner and would always get reflux, excessive burping or at least an uncomfortable feeling. I switched to eating fruit before my dinner and the problem stopped. Not farting probably isn't anything to worry about. It means your problem is in the stomach and not further down the digestive system.

I agree about MD's. They are worse than useless for chronic health issues.

I fully agree with you that wheat and gluten are terrible, and I really should stop eating that garbage, but I don't know if I feel ready for it yet. I don't think that it's directly related to my digestive issues, though, because with time, I've already cut massively on wheat products, and my digestion only got worse. Judging based on your comment about TP, it sounds like we actually had opposite problems, where your digestion was too rapid and mine too slow. As for apple cider vinegar, I do consume it. I started a few years ago when I had an annoying twitch under my left eye, and I watched a dr Berg video recommending ACV for it, and it instantly fixed it for me. I never noticed any benefit for my digestion from it, unfortunately, even though I put way more of it in my glass than they recommend (I just like the taste of it when mixed with juice). I did some research on this and the other product you recommended below, and it looks like the bacteria in it is lactobacillus. This is the same one that is contained in kefir, which I've been drinking daily for multiple years now. This is something I should have mentioned in my original post, but I forgot to because I was in pain and sleep deprived. Kefir has had amazing benefits for my health, both physical and mental, but I'm actually starting to wonder if I've reached a point where I have an overgrowth of lactobacillus that could be harming my digestion. I should probably stop probiotics for a few weeks as a test. As stated, a good medical doctor is the answer. The rest, assumptions at best and witchery at worst. It's not really assumptions if you get results in the end. There's nothing wrong with going through trial and error until you find a solution, which is exactly how I've solved most of my health issues over the years. Doctors have done nothing except for harming my health ever since I was born. I'm never gonna go see one again unless I have a physical injury, like a broken limb or something. For chronic health problems, they are worse than useless. I've all my health issues in the past decade without them, and I'll fix this one too eventually. I have read your other posts and you seem to be reasonable and thoughtful, but this one is more emotional. There is nothing wrong checking the symptoms with a specialist, it could solve the issues fast (which I hope happens). It's really not emotional, though. I'm speaking from a lifetime of experience. I was sick constantly as a kid, mostly with stuff like the cold, and all they ever did was prescribe me antibiotics (which don't even do anything against viruses). They fed me so many of those syrup antibiotics that it permanently stained my teeth. Imagine the effect that this had on my gut bacteria, too. I spent pretty much my entire childhood and early adolescence on this crap, and who knows what kind of effect it had on me? They also removed my adenoids, which, it turns out, only makes your health worse on the long term: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6145787/ . And then there's also the fact that I've spent years watching my relatives get in worse health, regularly go to the doctor, and then coming back with pills that don't even solve their problems. Then the pills give them side effects, so the doctors prescribe more pills to counter those side effects. And this entire time, their health just gets worse. It's a mess. Meanwhile, I'm overall in the best health of my entire life (even if some issues are left), and that's entirely because I stopped seeing doctors and started experimenting on myself instead. There's nothing emotional about any of this, it's just cold logic. It would be foolish to keep doing the same thing over and over again when it hasn't worked for anyone. I don't see anything wrong with seeing a specialist. Of course You can do other stuff but if You don't know what is wrong where do You start. I did an endoscopy because I had no idea what was going on. You want to makes sure it is nothing serious. But what if it's something with Your heart or anything else? You can go to doctors to see what the problem is so You can start somewhere. When I told my friend about this "chest pain", he was also concerned about my heart. Let me assure you that it's not a problem with the heart itself. I know this for sure, because the pain always goes away once I force myself to belch enough. Because of this, it's obvious that it's a problem of gas pressure in the chest. Also, it's worth noting that, in general, my cardiovascular health seems to have improved in the past years, because I can do things like sprinting much faster and longer than I used to, and also because I feel my heart beat in my ears less than before. My digestion has never been particularly good, but since roughly late 2022, it has been really bad. I started getting this crippling chest pain that would often last for hours after meals. I eventually figured out that this is caused by gas that gets trapped into my chest and causes enough pressure to be painful. As I mentioned above, I already have experience with probiotics through kefir. I don't know if a different kind of probiotics would help. Maybe it would be worth trying eventually, but for now I think I want to try less bacteria rather than more. I appreciate your support and the support of everyone else here, though. ilya, you are probably eating something that doesn't agree with you. Not farting probably isn't anything to worry about. It means your problem is in the stomach and not further down the digestive system. You're absolutely right that eating the wrong things can cause my problem. Actually, I know this from experience as well, because last year when I started focusing more of it, trying to notice patterns, I figured out that the absolutely worst for me was pork chops. Eating pork chops for dinner was like a guaranteed 10-12h of pain. I stopped eating that completely since then (I never particularly enjoyed it anyway). Meat in general seems to be what I'm struggling with the most, which is weird because for most people it seems to be the opposite. I think that it points towards me not having enough stomach acid for the big portions that I eat. It also doesn't help that I barely chew my food because I hate chewing and eating in general (yeah, I know that not enjoying food is weird, but I was literally born like that. Even as a newborn baby, my parents once had to bring me to the doctor because I refused to eat and they thought I was sick. The doctor found nothing and basically just told them to wait until I felt like eating. My grandma eventually had the idea of feeding me crushed banana, which is what got me eating again. To this day, banana is one of the few foods that I don't despise, along with non-cheese dairy). The way that I eat almost every day is to start at about 3pm with a small meal of dairy and fruits, and then have a meal of meat at about 5-6pm. Maybe it's possible that my digestion is so slow that the 3pm meal ends up meeting the meat from the previous day in my intestines? Also, even though I stopped eating pork chops, I'm actually not a fan of cutting out food entirely because of gas. I feel like it's like a cop out, like those people who have joint pain, so they stop using those joints. Instead, I'm more interested in trying to fix the root cause. If other people can digest the food that gives me issues, then there's probably something wrong with me, not with the food. I just have to find out what and fix it. That's my philosophy regarding health. Anyway, I've been trying a few things since yesterday and I feel better. I don't want to say exactly what yet because I'm genuinely afraid of jinxing myself, but I'll keep trying, and if I see some actual improvement in the next few weeks, I'll come back here and explain in details what I've done so that it can help other people.
