I skipped to about the middle for the better part of a minute and couldn't work out what was going on I must have missed the part about skipping. I'll listen to it again, m8.

I watched the whole video now. I'm not saying it won't work for someone. I'm saying I've tried stuff like this and I hardly feel it in my biceps.

That's because you're not doing it properly, Michael m8!

I watched a little bit of the video Bruv posted. I don't know I have to test this out. I've always felt chins in my lats It's not regular chins or pullups. It's a version. Maybe you should watch the whole video before commenting, m8? I watched the whole video the other day with great interest, and yet again half an hour ago I nipped out to my chin up bar and tried some 'biceps' chin ups. After 35 years of training, and consistant, hard worked pull ups and chin ups throughout all that period, I have a damn good mind to muscle connection in this movement, and this is not the first time over the years I have focussed on them for biceps and I feel... nothing. Arthur Jones was wrong: "You can build both a chinning bar and a pair of parallel dip bars for a total cost of only a few dollars, and those two exercises, chins and dips, if properly performed, will stimulate muscular growth in your upper body and arms that will eventually lead to muscular size and strength that is very close to your potential" Well maybe not necessarily wrong, but certainly far off the mark for some of us. I thought the 'experts' in the video were mistaken, believing gymnasts use a bicep dominant chin up which contributes greatly to their arm size. Why would they try and isolate the biceps, to what end? Would make more sense to engage as many muscles as possible to share the load, plus all those other exercises, hilds, the tine under great tension etc is probably what does it. And one last observation - many gymnasts don't have particularly outstanding biceps anyway (but when they do, massively impressive)

So gymnasts are like other people.

Here's my contribution. It's a chin up variation that really targets the biceps. I use Bruce's Hook handles on a hook screwed into the top of a door frame to do this. Using two handles is a lot more comfortable for me than using both hands on a pullup bar. My wrists do not like straight pullup bars or barbells. Both handles on the one overhead hook puts the handles at a slight angle to each other which is far more comfortable for me. I get less reps using the biceps version of this exercise than I would with regular chins. My hands are quite close together and I don't let my elbows flare out. I can still feel something in my lats but not as much as in a regular chin. It's not like the lats must be completely disengaged from the exercise anyway. I know that if I had recommend using a wider grip to engage the lats more, somebody would have come on here and said "I feel that exercise mostly in my biceps, m8!"

If anyone hasn't watched the video yet, here's the new exercise: Instead of a conventional pullup, you do a chinup, but there's another twist- You try and pull with the biceps more when you do it.
I haven't tried it yet because biceps aren't really my thing, I guess I'll see what's happening in the forearm thread.

I just went to Youtube and without searching for anything this video was the very first one recommended and it's from the same channel as the other one I posted. I use a closer grip than this guy.

Youtube are bombarding me with this stuff now without me looking for it! (rofl) Here's Jeff Cavaliere to explain different grips and hand spacing.
