Thanks for remembering me Mag, appreciate it but I’m going to pass. I recently purchased a pair of 16kg KB so I can do some volume double KB snatch work. I’m working on being able to do a 10x10 workout. Meanwhile, my 15-lb. slam ball collects dust from not being used to its full potential. With an Asian Squat Journey and a Burpees 2021 Journey in progress, I’m tapped out at the moment. Maybe later in the year. There’s always a deal to be had if you frequently hunt for it. Thanks again. No sweat, I was thinking of picking up one for myself to play around with. Might end up going for this brand new one for $23 and change plus shipping... playground.epicsports.com/prod/45936/champro-track-field-cast-iron-shot-put.html?utm_content=45936

I've done similar stuff in the past. I do some similar stuff in the morning just to loosen up my wrist and get the blood flowing. The hand opening is an important one for me being that I'm always gripping stuff. I've done KSHD and self resistance for my forearms and fingers for many years. But I will say after I messed up my right wrist at work a therapist gave me stuff to do that has helped me more than anything else. Dumbbell wrist curls, reverse DB wrist curls, the leverage bar exercise, opening the hands hard and shaking them out hard.

Just picked up my Bison at the post office and am playing around with it now. If this thing holds up it seems like a decent buy for $83 shipped...Ganesha, are you in the U.S. ?.... I'm still trying to figure out how you snagged the Bison at that price ? Yes, in the U.S. It was in "Like New" condition from the Amazon Warehouse, so I guess it was a return or damaged box item.

Was reading over Mike Dayton's advice a while ago and like this guy he made a point of going to the end of ROM for wrist curls/reverse wrist curls (although he said to do once daily as a sort of max effort thing). ditillo2.blogspot.com/2013/12/hand-strength-mike-dayton-1978.htmlI think you get a much better pump from the finger curls when you do them sort of starting from towards the ends of your fingers like you're trying to palm a basketball, and kind of tense a bit more instead of just going fast as you can. I was doing it earlier today when my hands were cold.

Ok, my Bison 1-m arrived today and my first impression is..... I LOVE IT !!!!! Seems very well built and I can absolutely see the justification for the price. My favorite exercise with it so far is the 'bicycle' movement, my forearms are pumped like balloons, One of the reasons I wanted to try the Bison is that I've had an annoying 'click' in my right elbow for quite some time now, it doesn't hurt and it does seem to go away when I get fresh blood in the area through high rep direct forearm / wrist work. I'm hoping that the Bison will turn out to be just what the doctor ordered

Update: Just finished my 'morning coffee routine' workout, of which the Bison is now included....
This thing really gets the 'kinks' out of your elbows, wrists, hands. The grips do get a bit slippery while doing rotational moves, but just maintaining grip can be thought of as part of the strength building equation. I don't think I'll ever have to add any type of grip enhancer to the handles, but I do have a pair of cut-off workout gloves with neoprene palms somewhere and I'm going to try them while using the Bison to see what the effect is (if I can just remember where they are?)

For me once I had gloves on I realised I had just been ineffectually squeezing the handles while they slipped in my sweaty hands, the wrist burn definitely improved when my wrists were actually working against something.

In principle you can make very fine adjustments to this thing but in practice there's an uncertainty involved in getting the handles set to equal difficulty so you can't be too exact... Why don't you do one set and then turn it around and do another set? That way you get equal billing on both hands. Now that I have some practical experience using the Bison, here's how I adjust it to get both sides resistance within a wuss hair of each other. Start out by loosening and then moving the lock rings (they call it a "lock nut" in the instructions) out to the approximate range of resistance for the exercise you're going to do. ***You'll know where that is through experience... Keep the lock rings centered the same distance from the corresponding "fixing rings" (their term), and then just grab the fixing rings and start twisting in to meet up with the lock rings. ***Right and left fixing rings are twisted at the same time*** At the point where the fixing rings meet the lock rings, you then spin the lock rings into the fixing rings and lock everything into place. You'll get the resistance on both sides nearer to each other much quicker and more accurately doing it this way...

Haven't thrown it around outside yet but I think there's some benefit in tossing it from hand to hand in between sets of my steel clubs and kettlebells, OR used as a warmup beforehand. Call me a satisfied customer, I like it

Ganesha, are you in the U.S. ?.... I'm still trying to figure out how you snagged the Bison at that price ? Yes, in the U.S. It was in "Like New" condition from the Amazon Warehouse, so I guess it was a return or damaged box item. Last night I found a 'Bison Super Model 2019' on Amazon with a 'Used-Like New' condition for $90...supposedly the box is "damaged" otherwise the unit itself is brand new. At that price I couldn't resist, so It'll be here on Tuesday... Hopefully it turns up undamaged and is everything my Bison 1m is. Here's a link to the Super Model 2019

It honestly looks less useful that the normal bison, unless maybe you are supposed to use it to train your arms and chest as well or something? Hopefully it comes with some hints on how to use it, looking forward to finding out.

Hopefully it comes with some hints on how to use it, looking forward to finding out. From what I can surmise it appears to have 2 benefits over the original Bison, the first being the way that the resistance is adjusted without the lock rings and 'fixing rings', the second potential benefit is increased range of motion. I'll use it a bit and report back, hopefully it proves to be a worthwhile purchase.... if not I can always just return it as I'm an Amazon 'Prime' member, or sell it for what I paid for it, $90 plus tax, I think the total w/ tax was $97... OR just keep it as a spare downstairs in the basement with my other equipment. ***I'm wondering what type of lubricant to eventually use on the ball & socket joint, the instructions that came with it aren't clear, they say to use a "solid oil" or "litholol" whatever the hell that is ?...

I was thinking this stuff may be a good lubricant on the ball & socket joint ?...

Yeah that's true about the range of motion and about returning it. Who knows, maybe someone is lurking in this thread right now who would happily pay a little more than that but wasn't quick enough off the bat. Let us know what it's like to adjust the resistance.
I've never added any lubricant, maybe I should? Since mine is 2nd hand the friction socket things already had quite a bit of wear and tear on them, but it's not expensive to get another set of those if I ever notice them faltering. Occasionally is seems like the direction the handles are moved at makes it a little easier/harder.
