It’s annoying when you lose control over your body like this. For example, if you read down a list of foods meant to help lower it, I eat most of them. That said, when I was measuring my blood pressure multiple times per day, two things really helped: CBD oil and beetroot capsules. They got it right down to a normal level: only problem with CBD is the cost. It does help relax me a lot, as I’m naturally prone to be quite uptight and anxious. What also shocked me is how much stress can instantly spike it. I’d measure it after a stress event at work (complaining email) and it would skyrocket instantly, then later drop once I’d calmed down a bit. I too am uptight, does the cbd oil really help? It would be great to use it occasionally. Are there any side effects to its use?

Woofter, I'm glad you have found something that help. It sounds like you might need a change of career but are there any jobs out there where you wouldn't get wound up? I know I can't think of any where I wouldn't get wound up. I told my boss to "Get fucked!" and went home about an hour or so after I got to work one morning last week. I went back to work the next day when I calmed down though.

Your blood pressure is too high? What causes that? That will do it. How do "they" determine what is "normal" for an individual? People are all different. What is "normal" for me may not be "normal" for you when measuring conditions of our individual biology. As we have noted previously, there are people who drink whisky and smoke all of their adult lives and still live to be over 100. All of that obsessiveness with our body is unhealthy, IMO.

The only side effect for me is that it isn’t cheap!

Problem is the risk of covid lockdowns make any sort of a career shift risky at the moment. Plus the cost of living seems to be shooting up in the UK too!

Wishing you the best whiffet. Anxiousness is behavioral and hard to lick. The tools of cognitive behavior therapy might be helpful. I’m sure your surfing does wonders.
You can also try FFT. Let me know if you’re interested.

I sort of ate big again yesterday. What am I supposed to do when there’s a gun pointed at my head? Sort of like someone else. Hey, where is he?

I don't have high blood pressure now but did. Before the wolves attack me here these are just suggestions because I have lowered my blood pressure without medicine and kept in low. You mentioned the list of foods meant to help lowering it. But have You looked at Your overall diet? I'm pretty sure Your diet is probably good but that could be a place to start. I believe someone said this stuff in this thread but it's worth mentioning. I wouldn't obsess about taking Your blood pressure multiple times a day. Once a week is ok, at night time, and probably at least 30 minutes after You relax. When some people go to the doctors knowing they are going to get their blood pressure checked most of the time get a high reading even if their reading at home is lower. My wife is like this. I just relax and don't even pay it any mind. Exercise wise, I know You're a high tension guy. Maybe it's time for a change exercise wise. Going more cardio wise with weights could be a better way to go. I know everyone thinks You can't do cardio and weights together but I beg to differ. Your physical appearance won't change depending on Your diet. You could do circuits, complexes, metabolic training, or PHA training. You could use weights, bands, and bodyweight. I have explored all these training methods. I'm not saying we are old like the rest of these guys, , but as You get older health probably should take more of a role over vanity.

No better advice than from someone who has conquered, or at least managed, the demon.

CBD, at least in concentrations that are effective, is expensive.
I bought a CBD product that delivered 100 milligrams per 1 ml dropper.
Main benefit I noticed was better sleep and more vivid dreams.
It helped, but I didn’t feel the benefits warranted the cost.

Yeah I did change my diet when I found out. I was a cheese lover but had no idea how much salt was in it. Plus I was I’m eating it with super-strong marmite — packed with salt. What I noticed was when I relaxed at the weekend things would improve. I did stop the muscle tensing stuff I did, too.

The cynic in me makes me think it is so more people can be put on prescription medication.

What I noticed was when I relaxed at the weekend things would improve. I did stop the muscle tensing stuff I did, too. Did reducing salt make any difference? My blood pressure is the low end of good so still good. Salt is like a superfood for me. I reduced salt a little a few weeks ago to see what the minimum amount is that I can use while still feeling good. I probably reduced it by almost half but I started feeling worn out at work. I was also getting a little dizzy if I was doing something low to the ground and got up fairly quickly. After a week of that I went back to the usual amount and have been fine since. I don't eat any foods that have salt added. The only salt I have is what I add. I would guess that I have about 4 level teaspoons a day.
