Many on this forum already know about "The Precious Set of Monks' Isometrics". A good scan of them can be found in this post, by Silverlooks: Sometimes the scans have what look like page numbers in the corners, as 253 and 254. I wondered what book these pages may have come from. And I think I have found it. The book (with a strange title) is "The Art of Shen Ku: The First Intergalactic Artform Of The Entire Universe", by "Zeek", from 1999. (Some websites say that Zeek is the pen name of Steve Dolby, an illustrator originally from England.) It can be downloaded from the Internet Archive, here:
Anna's Archive also has copies:
It is quite an unusual book, with advice on travelling, health, martial arts, and other things. The question is, is it safe to follow its advice? I find some reviews that say that the advice is sometimes not so good, and perhaps even dangerous. So perhaps it is safer to read it only for entertainment, perhaps to spark your curiosity to research some things further. If you want a paper copy, perhaps as a gift for yourself or for others, it is still in print, for example from Amazon:

Hey Brennus, I was looking for something to read over the next week or so and am really glad you found this, it seems wacky and informational, I love little treasures like this, books of a bygone era where wacky and mystical crap was all the rage.

I’ve got the paperback version, lots of good stuff. The isometric set is very interesting, a mix of self resistance isometrics and pushing against the floor.
The book includes a simplified version of the Eight Pieces Brocade too.

Fred may want to correct me on this, but as I recall, macky was selective about which of the "Precious Monks" exercises he would do.I did a search for macky's posts that contain the word "monks" and HERE are the results, if you're interested.

Hey Brennus, I was looking for something to read over the next week or so and am really glad you found this, it seems wacky and informational, I love little treasures like this, books of a bygone era where wacky and mystical crap was all the rage. i've had a quick scan through it over the last couple of hours and I feel as if I was slightly disrespectful towards it, it is deffo "wacky" but didn't deserve to be called mystical crap. It's full of some really interesting stuff and being written at the end of the 90's before the internet became what it is I would guess this had so many collaborations with people in different professions to obtain and publish this information in as much detail as it does. It looks like a really good book, I wouldn't say much of it contains harmful information other than some of the supplements mixtures could be a bit dodgy? for anyone interested in the exercise parts of the book I would say skip to the sailor and martial artist sections, there's a few stretching routines, breathing techniques, calisthenics, isometrics and weight lifting routines. My brain is a bit overwhelmed with how much information they have put into such a short space, so i will take a break and then try to go through the chapters individually.

The author is on facebook, I don't know if he's active but his last pics are in 2011 and puts him in his 60's I believe, he looks like he is in great shape. He was managing a gym in Thailand with a lot of home made equipment according to things I read, weighted ships wheels and the like. His Facebook

I tip my hat to the CSInvestigators in this forum! The precious set of monks' isos, Gordon Anderson, the (original?) blackbelt, Zass iso course's content... Where on Earth Is Carmen Sandiego?
