Yes, good point on Ceylon cinnamon. $25/lb from Swanson. $16/8oz from Nuts. Note to hot sauce lovers: There are many recipes that can take cinnamon without really changing the flavor and even enhancing. I think it's especially invisible in recipes with a little hot sauce; i.e. Frank's Original Red Hot, Louisiana Hot Sauce or El Pato. .... for commercial hot sauce. These are my commercial go-tos due to the sparse ingredients, although i also have home kitchen made hot sauce that is awesome beyond words with only organic garden grown ingredients ...... sorry, I'm not sharing.

They failed to discern the good from the bad cinnamon here. Cassia is the chinese cinnamon more commonly sold in stores which has coumarin. The EXACT same active ingredient as in Warfarin the prescription blood thinner. Too much of it can harm yr liver. Buy the true or ceylon (“By your command”) cinnamon. It’s more expensive but sweeter, more aromatic & has negligible traces of coumarin. Cinnamon has the highest per capita of oligomeric proanthocyanidins than any other foodstuffs. I religiously add cinnamon to my dark cacao & chia seed mix for breakfast. U really feel the difference too. ah.....a fellow Battlestar Galactica fan... and the reboot too.....

Microwave meals and the odd whiskey seems to be the nutrition of most centenarians outside of the "blue zones"

I have known several 95+ yo men. They ALL express the fact all their friends are gone. The feel very alone. Having the capability of making new relationships at that point in their lives is slim. Relationships are built on shared life events. What does a 95 YO have in common with a 65 YO. I think 85 or so will be a good run.

I think you have to find some peace with yourself and accept solitude as you grow older. Even now I see the social circle shrinking every year, and I care less and less. On occasion I mentally note that I'm "alone" and not sure if that means I'm lonely. The drinking buddies of my youth are just FB friends now mostly and even that interaction is sparse. Social Media like this forum is going to become the primary outlet for most people, however sad that might be maybe it's better than nothing. The pandemic exposed how fragile the common mental health is when people find themselves isolated.

Life's facets are like a thin veil easily shredded that we try to keep patched.

Controversial. Insightful. Crazy. Bryan Johnson Blueprint - FreeJohnson is rich enough to be eccentric and at the same time provides a wealth of information on diet, exercise and other factors. His program has similarities to those recommended by longevity researchers such as Valter Longo and David Sinclair: - Plant-centric. Longo and Sinclair allow small amounts of animal protein to reduce IGF-1 and mTOR which slows aging. - Fasting. Johnson's fast begins after his second meal, Longo reocmmends time-restricted eating but only two meals/day with a very light amount of food at noon. Sinclair also an advocate of fasting. - Strength Training. - Aerobic training. Johnson's not without controversy -- blood transfusions from his son, for example. To date, I've never found a single study, paper, etc., showing a protein-heavy diet will reverse aging. Even talking with my dentist, who is a 7th Day Adventist, I've found his faith is a strong advocate of a vegan diet....and they're the longest lived group in the US, if not the world. longreads.com/2020/02/28/seventh-day-adventist-vegetarian-diet/www.latimes.com/health/la-he-blue-zone-loma-linda-20150711-story.htmlI bring up the 7th Day Adventists as they're an example of a large group with decades of studies validating what Johnson, Longo, Sinclair, etc., advocate. If anything, interesting stuff.

Funny. Bryan Johnson's numbers are off the charts. Biological aging is either slowed or reversed. Step by step blueprint on how we did it. Does one need the supplements? Blood transfusion? Probably not as others have shown positive results with fasting and a whole plant vegan diet.
And, his athletic numbers -- lifts, runs -- have all improved as well. The debate is consuming (unhealthy0 processed foods (coconut oil) and saturated fats.
Hmmm.

Coconut oil is not processed ...... if you obtain the Unrefined version. It seems like good stuff to me. I use it on my body and sometimes in my food without concern. 100% expeller processed, organic - no solvents. It's delicious, m8s!

I don't go to McDonald's for "food" either and I avoid Dunkin Donuts altogether, but that's just me.

Proccessoed, concentrated oil not found in its original "packaging". No fiber. Little/no protein. Processed. Don't care how it is extracted. It is a concentrated processed product with most nutrients missing that aer found in the real thing, a coconut.

Um, yeah ..... but .... EVERYTHING you eat is processed unless you go out a kill a cow and take a bite or grab a root out the ground and stuff it in your mouth. Get real. We're talking about avoiding what is known as "highly" processed ..... which for my menu selections means the minimum processing.of any live, real, organic, natural food.
How much coconut oil do you get from the coconuts you eat, TR? Is it enough to add it to meals? Oil the pan?

Grains are probably the most processed food on the planet. Can you go out and pick wheat or rice and eat it? No. They have to be broken down so our bodies can even digest them first. They’re more unhealthy than healthy. Logically I think eating OMAD one meal a day is prob the cheat code to longevity. You get the benefit of intermittent fasting and can prob eat whatever you want in that meal without doing so much damage that fasting for 24 hours can’t outweigh it health wise. I start every morning with coconut oil or ghee in my coffee and sometimes I blend ghee into beef or chicken broth for a drink instead of coffee. Our bodies love fat, they fill you up and are twice as much energy. All this plant based stuff is just a an extended form of fasting where your body thinks it’s starving so it responds by getting stronger. This is why most vegans eventually start to suffer after initially bragging about how healthy they are. My daughter was a hardcore vegan and gave it up when her hair started falling out. Until then you couldn’t convince her it was unhealthy
