On Sept. 17th, my wife and I jumped into our adventure SUV and headed to Canada....Oh. Canada....where we spent a couple of days at Niagara Falls. If you've never been there, you ought to put that on your bucket list. What a magnificent spectacle! We sailed on the Hornblower right up to the Horseshoe Falls. Awesome! The Canadian town of Niagara Falls is sooooo tacky! The ultimate tourist trap. Loved it!
From there we drove into Massachusetts where we stole out daughter away from her husband and took her with us to Cape Cod. There are few things more beautiful than New England in the Fall! We toured the Edward Gorey house in Barnstable. Barnstable is so quintessentially New England with beautiful colonial homes set amongst lottsa trees. It's like a village in a forest.
We toured Nantucket and Provincetown, and, of course, there were the walks along the sea shores where my daughter collected sea shells. Some things never change.
All in all, a wonderful vacation.

Glad you like them, Bruv. Actually, this is the one time I went on a vacation (Holiday, for all you Brits) that I didn't take any pictures. Those are all downloaded from the Internet. But, they're all the places we saw. On one night, my daughter and I went on a Ghost walking tour of Barnstable. We were the only two who showed up for the tour. That was a lot of fun. Our guide related a lot of stories at locations we stopped at, not only of hauntings, but also of interesting history. We stopped into an 18th century jail which is supposed to be very haunted, and, of course, the old cemetery which is also very haunted. I just plain enjoyed walking around there. It is all so beautiful. The cemetery and jailhouse.

Actually, that's not the boat we were on. Know how I can tell? See all that blue up top? That's everybody on top wearing blue parkas. It's the American Maid of the Mist. Everyone on the Canadian boat wears red parkas.

We really enjoyed touring the Edward Gorey house and museum, which was a must on our vacation, as my daughter is a great Edward Gorey fan. When The Flob was in high school she managed to gather together over twenty kids to put on an enactment of the Gashleycrumb Tinies, complete with costumes and props.

Speaking of Nantucket, Vivien (my lady housemate) says that no good can come from a limerick with the word "Nantucket" in it. I wonder what the hell she was on about?

There once was a girl from Nantucket Who carried some things in a bucket But when she swung it about One item fell out So into her purse she did tuck it
