There's literally a rat in mi kitchen, m8s. One of the fkn cats brought a live rat into the house and then both cats chased it around until it found a hiding place under the fkn dishwasher.

One got into my kitchen years ago back in NYC....I hit it in the head with something which knocked it out and then took it out side where I killed it

Had a wood rat in the house when I was little, attacked one of our finches (survived but lost one leg)...figured it was mostly in the basement, my Dad sat in almost total darkness for about two hours waiting for the thing to get careless and show itself, which it finally did, Dad then promptly shot it with a .22. I always thought my Dad was a reincarnated Western gunfighter, he was the best shot with sighted fire that I ever saw, with rifle and pistol. He was also very, very patient.
My great great grandfather on Dad's side had been a cavalry officer in some German principality before he came to the US, then he was in the US Cavalry during the Civil War, he had been trained by some of the best swordsmen in Europe when he was young...later in life he had a job carrying large sums of money, he carried a sword cane and on at least one occasion used it to kill someone trying to rob him. He kept himself sharp by killing rats in his barn with his sword cane...talk about reflexes!
And folks wonder where I get it from.

In those row homes there was a lot of rats. As a kid You would here those things making all kinds of noise. I remember one time his kids were acting up around Christmas time. He went outback and fired one of his guns. He came inside and said he killed Santa Clause. , those kids were crying.

We left the patio door slightly open last night hoping that the rat would find it's way out. I said to Mrs BigBruvOfEnglandUK that the rat will be unlikely to want to leave because of the easy access to the cat food all right opposite the dishwasher that it was hiding under. Anyway, in the night Mrs BigBruvOfEnglandUK heard a noise and got up to investigate expecting it to be one of the cats and the rat which sure enough it was. A cat had chased the rat and it got up onto one of the Venetian blinds in the lounge just like it had done yesterday. Mrs BigBruvOfEnglandUK shut the cat in a bedroom and then got a horse whip of all things and poked at the rat to encourage it off the Venetian blind and out of the patio door. She said it didn't run away quickly at all. She had to keep poking at it as it dawdled along. She said it was a really nice looking rat like a pet. I slept through the whole episode, m8s. australian.museum/learn/animals/mammals/black-rat/

It's kept in the lounge. It has a toy tied to the end of it that I flick around for the cats to chase when they want a game, Magz m8.

........ She said it didn't run away quickly at all. She had to keep poking at it as it dawdled along. She said it was a really nice looking rat like a pet. ...... It wouldn't surprise me if it was a pet. Anytime I've approached wild rats, they scurry away. Many years ago, a friend and i shot rats with a .22. They had invaded the tiny food-grain storage room of a barn, about the size of a small walk-in closet, and chewed holes in all the plastic containers to access the food. We'd bust them as they ran across the shelves on the back wall about 8 ft from the door. It was like a carnival shooting gallery until we thinned the herd.

Mr Spud head, this was no pet. One of the cats bought a dead one home exactly like it a few days ago. It was a black rat. They are a nicer looking than the more common brown rats. Black rats are known for their climbing ability and this one easily climbed up an Indonesian wood carving we have propped against a wall, jumped from that onto the Venetian blind string and up to the top of the Venetian blind in the blink of an eye. It's obviously a pretty smart rat that it remembered how it had got away from the cats by climbing up onto the same blind the day before. www.rejectrats.com/difference-between-black-rats-and-brown-rats/

" It was a black rat. They are a nicer looking than the more common brown rats." No need to stereotype the rats sir, all rats matter. )
