About a week ago I overdid it with the twisting movements, had some of the wrong kind of pain for a few days so left the forearms alone for 3 days, which is the longest break they have had in the last 2 months.
I am 2 workouts back now, and I have pretty much settled on my mainstays - wrist curls, reverse wrist curls and 2 twisting movements - I basically open out wrist straps, hanf weigh from the loop end with a hook and chain and holding thecother end, twist my hand. I do this twisting one way, then I switch how I hold it and twist the other way. Pretty much how Devon Larratt does it but he uses a belt or something I think. The weaker direction is the one that injured me, though as above obviously not badly - twisting the thumb away from the centerline of the body. This was also the first workout without occlusion. Not as good a pump, but stronger. Will carry on occluding I think for a while.

Years ago I hurt myself doing the same sort of thing (twisting the same way I think) and while I thought I'd be fine in a few days, I kept hurting it again and again and it became a total ballache to get rid of, I'm not even sure if I'm 100% now.

That's not good, Dave. I am lucky as mine stepped hurting within a few days. I have done more of this movement with no problems but I do keep an eye on things. I took my measurements yesterday, wrist was 7 inches, forearm (arm extended, relaxed) 11.5 inches so certainly not impressive measurements. I am starting to get bored now, though I will keep going until I have 12 weeks under my belt at least,I might keep going though, we will see. I do think I should take a full week off to let them recover at some point, maybe after the 12 weeks, followed by maybe another four weeks to make 16 weeks of forearm training with a one week break incorporated. One way or another I will still train them after that, but I am not really sure how much my forearms have changed maybe I have looked at them too much hahaha.

It's been over 3 months since I last posted on this thread, so an updatexis well overdue. Although my workouts varied with no real routine as such, I continued to put a lot of focus on forearm training. I would estimate this lasted for 16 weeks or so, though I still worked them a fair bit after this, just not quite as much.
So what happened as a result of this period of increased intensity, frequency and volume, with no dietary change. Well, not a great deal. My forearms improved, a bit bigger, stronger but not as much as I expected considering the effort I put in. I enjoyed it for a while, but got a bit bored after a while. I could probably have got equal results by just spending the time doing more heavy holds etc. I really like the twisting exercises, where I opened out a lifting strap and hung weighta on one end, twisting the strap clockwise forcone movement, anti clockwise for another. A great exercise I will do once I train again.
To explain, my Dad died a couple of weeks ago and it hit me hard, combined with a lot of tome spent getting things in order for my Mum, but I will be back to lifting soon.

As an update, my trainjng in general has recently taken quite a drastic turn, I no longer lift heavy, in fact I fixed 3 or 4 pairs of dumbells, a couple of bars etc with light, set weights to use for higher rep, shorter rest training. I still try and hit each muscle with some frequency, but I am not so concerned with the bodybuilder, individual bodyparts mentality now. So with that being said, I am not really working forearms directly but I have found the macebell I use quite a lot really hits them hard, and I enjoy using it so that sees me right.
