Nice track Mags. The busy drumming is more appropriate to this one.

Nice track Mags. The busy drumming is more appropriate to this one. Different musical trio, that last track was from 'Khruangbin', a very eclectic group out of Houston Texas, known for blending global music influences, such as classic soul, dub and psychedelia... "Khruangbin's musical genre is a hotly debated topic amongst critics. Mostly instrumental, the band's sound has been described as soul, surf, psychedelic, and funk, with one website even describing them as "electronic". The most commonly used term to describe Khruangbin's music is Thai funk."

You've got a wide knowledge of both the local and Latin scene, Mags, posting interesting and new (to me) tracks of a large variety of music. Let's face it, there's so much wonderful music of all sorts around it's impossible to know it all. The heated debates about what a certain music type is, are fruitless. Obviously R&B tracks are easier to recognize, for example, but there is so much blending of entirely different forms of music these days, (and stretching back decades,) that a particular number can rightly have several categories. Everybody has posted good stuff on this thread, but I'm particularly impressed with your presentations.

The Atlantics were a surf rock guitar instrumental group formed in 1961 in Australia, taking their name from the brand of petrol at the time (in NZ too, along with Plume, Big Tree etc). Over the years there were changes, as one could expect, but I believe they are still operating. Here's their biggest hit, Bombora
In 1964, the band recorded War Of The Worlds which was a departure from their surf-rock style, and was possibly the most advanced record of its kind of the day, many DJ's apparently refusing to play it. I believe that had War Of The Worlds received the air-time it deserved, that may have turned out to be their biggest hit. The B side of the 45 is The Bowman, which I've heard since used as back-ground to DJ announcing, but is a great piece in itself. I haven't been able to locate it, so far, but it is well worth it to search for, another departure from typical surf music.
Atlantica, a later and more "mature" sound with great guitar licks and a nice drumming solo. My fav among them all from this band.

Thanks Macky ! ...I've always had eclectic tastes in music AND in food I've so far never met a culture where I didn't like their food or their music... or their women for that matter of fact !

You're not wrong there, Mags. Some of the middle-eastern and Indian women I've sighted over here in the last few years have prompted the installation of demisters on my glasses........

Thanks Mags. Try this one out by Springwater (Phil Cordell) "I Will Return" 1971. Played all the instruments himself.
This track is an example why I always believed that instruments alone, particularly guitars, could convey emotion just as good as singing. Not to take anything away from wonderful singers that are always exciting at shows, but there's something unspoken but still gets you right 'there' with a guitar that's played appropriately to the tune.

Fleetwood Mac's Albatros 1968. Beautiful piece, often played at funerals here, but nice to listen to at the beach on a sunny day.
