I quite like it, but it needs "tidying" up a bit. My opinion. Sounds like a Sunday afternoon jam session The sort of thing we did in the mid-60s in my first serious group.

I doubt if we'll ever hear anything quite like this ever again in this world. There are so many great guitar players of all kinds, but this guy was from Somewhere Else.......

When thinking of "tidy" music I immediately think of perhaps my favorite 'group' of all time... *Yes that's Michael McDonald as background vocalist, David Sanborn on alto saxophone and Mark Knopfler on guitar

LOVE that song!!! *Lyrics like that can be found only in a 'Steely Dan' song... and sort of reminds me of the 'Park1' and 'Andy' feud, no ? The wind was driving in my face
The smell of prickly pear
(my rival show me my rival)
The milk truck eased into my space
Somebody scream somewhere
I struck a match
Against the door of Anthony's bar and grill
I was the whining stranger
A fool in love
With time to kill
I've got detectives on his case
They filmed the whole charade
(my rival show me my rival)
He's got a scar across his face
He wears a hearing aid Sure he's a jolly roger
Until he answers for his crime
Yes
I'll match him whim for whim now...
I still recall when I first held
Your tiny hand in mine
(my rival show me my rival)
I loved you more than I can tell
But now it's stomping time
Sure he's a jolly roger
Until he answers for his crime
Yes
I'll match him whim for whim now

Great track. Be a hard job trying to do a cover for this one. There's so much going on.

"Ever wondered what a bodhisattva is? Or how to gaslight somebody? Then this website is for you! You're looking at an A-Z glossary of over 140 obscure words, people and places — all taken from the lyrics of Steely Dan songs." steelydandictionary.com/Re the gaslighting, a lady was referred to me back 7-8 years ago by a counselor who felt she was off her trolley, due to the lady's continuous stories about people "coming up to her, staring at her, then turning abruptly away", things out of place on her dresser, or even new items she had never seen. She was quite capable of keeping a serious office job down in the medical area, but apparently everyone else had pretty much written her off, and I felt that she deserved at least some time to see if anything was really going on. She had been a bodybuilder at a gym that was run by an "inner clique" of women, and you and I know where that can end up, sometimes. This lady had been the subject of jealousy and cold remarks, finally being almost forced to leave the gym, and that's when the fun seemed to start, according to her story. I took her out into public areas like food halls and coffee sidewalks and noted what was happening as she talked. For a while I didn't see anything unusual, often looking around in the wrong direction mostly, but she eventually told me a guy instructor from the gym had been in on it at the start and had suddenly died. I investigated his death at the internal affairs office and he had committed suicide by hanging himself in his wardrobe. I put it to her that this may have initiated the gaslighting as revenge. The woman who was the prime instigator of all this had shifted away to a city 700 kms away, but apparently was still in contact with the "crew" up here in Auckland, so I kept on with it. Things seemed a bit strange but I saw evidence of intrusion outside her bedroom window at the house she was staying in, and finally one day when we were down at a duck pond, two women turned up in a large wagon and both stared at us as they drove slowly by, then turned around, and drove past again, staring at us, then parked for a while, apparently ignoring us any further. After half an hour, they drove off as another car turned up with guy in it, that parked across from us and sat there staring at us for at least ten minutes. Then he started up and turned around to leave, coming alongside our vehicle as he did so, staring at us all the time, until driving off. That's when I realized that things were not all imagination, and wrote a Police report out and submitted it to them. My lady moved away after that and bought a house down country, the events continued for a while, but gradually died down. The police had wanted to subject her to a psych test, which I strongly had advised her not to take. She would only end up on drugs that would really send her up the gully, and she would be subject to "lawful restraint" by idiots who pose as psychiatrists. After my report, the police "advice" for a pysch test stopped. It has convinced me that gaslighting sometimes does exist, often the players under the impression it's only a game. This lady was strong, didn't fall to bits under it, and I was able to see some proof of it and report it to the authorities.
