Free swimming with a divers belt gives an awesome practice session. Gets everything and many components of fitness are served. Some years ago I enrolled in a "Finning" class a the Y...I was in my mid-60s at the time You swam for an hour straight in various swimming styles using swim fins in the Olympic size pool I'm not a strong swimmer and it kicked my ass....I'm serious The instructor kept track of each person's laps and there were only about 6 people in the class, five chubby women and myself The instructor laughed and told me that all the men who had previously tried it quit and that I was the only man who stayed with it. She said that if I watched my diet I could get 6 pack abs....I then laughed and said that the only six pack I was interested in was a six pack of beer ! I kept going and eventually swam a mile in the hour period....although I think I swallowed half of the pool water It is the toughest form of exercise I've ever done and I've run, rucked X-Country skied etc

Jack Savage advocated swimming while wearing a judo gi, I would guess that would be some tough conditioning. I'd like to try it but I'll have to learn to swim first...

It’s my main form of exercise at the station which provides variety and a challenge if you decide to use weighted limbs. Plus, it won’t kill the joints either.

If so urine trouble. All joking aside, swimming is a great exercise. I wish I had somewhere to swim. When I was a teenager I had an Uncle that would swim across the Delaware river from Trenton, N.J. to Morrisville P.A. to a cove that led to the back of his house. He made it look easy. He got me to try it with him one day. As a teenager it felt pretty hard, , I almost kissed the land when I made it to the back of his house.

Got my 30' rope yesterday, did the following workout just to get accustomed to it:
50 reps with whatever the move is called, alternating sides instead of both simultaneously, then: 25 whacks on the tire with a 12lb sledgehammer
I only did 5 sets of that combo as I wasn't really planning on working out. Might throw in some kb stuff next time to hit the legs. Had some good doom metal playing. This kind of stuff keeps working out fun. I think if I combine this with a dozen eggs a day I'll basically be an unstoppable beast by next Spring, but I say that every year and look exactly the same. Hope springs eternal.

Well, the stupid battle ropes have given me the worst tennis elbow I've had in a while. I will have to keep the elbows tight to the body and do a more piston like motion to avoid this problem. I was doing it more like a high Karate-Kid painting the fence or cracking a whip move.

I was doing it more like a high Karate-Kid painting the fence or cracking a whip move. Get some rubber bands (free on some produce at the grocer), or even use self resistance, to open your fingers against a resistance. If you have a need to spend money because slipping free rubber bands over your finger is just too much DIY bother, you buy the "real thing" (which, like battle ropes, didn't exist until recently as a marketing exec's exercise tool, but I digress), you could spend money on these special-made finger bands ...... like the ones pictured HERE. I hope you're already taking some vitamin D, however ......... Opening fingers against resistance is the fastest remedy for golfer's/tennis elbows that I've ever experienced ........ and it's free to try since your body doesn'y know how much you spend on exercise tools. It only responds to tension. When I've used bands to cure GE or TE, I ease into working them for reps, a minute or three, several times per day. I expect you would feel some relief on the first day and definitely after three or four days of consistent rehab.

BTW, GE and TE are grip injury issues, so you may want to try wearing, leather or rubber-faced gardening, gloves when you grip the ropes to lesson the grip load by improving retention friction?

I expect you would feel some relief on the first day and definitely after three or four days of consistent rehab. I used to go overboard with the grip work, and each and every time that I'd dedicate some specialized work on the grippers, trying to work my way up to the Ironmind Captains of Crush #3, it usually wasn't long before I'd inevitably suffer from 'Golfers Elbow'. It usually went away on its own within a few weeks, but once when I had a particularly bad case of 'medial epicondylitis' I tried every recommended therapy out there, and NOTHING worked at all. As a matter of fact doing things like extensor work with the bands just made things worse. This went on for months and months. Finally I tried 'Cissus' and the Golfers Elbow completely went away in about 2 weeks or so. To this day I keep some on hand, and whenever I overdo things and start to feel irritation on the elbows I'll do a round of Cissus and the inflammation disappears like magic. I've mentioned this to Capt. K in the thread where he tore his pec, the Cissus would have definitely helped him, but he seems to want to ignore the advice and go with other recommendations... So carry on. ***One thing I've noticed is that since the pandemic began I've been supplementing with 5000 iu of D3 just about every day, and in the last few years I don't think I've had any elbow flare-ups whatsoever, no matter how hard I hit the grip. This experience seems to coincide with the study that I linked to in my other post... Your mileage may vary...
