I have an old battle rope that never gets used. I was looking on YT at some continuous rope pulling set ups after seeing a video with John Brzenk and they had a rope pulling machine built along with other set ups for pulling that they were pretty secretive about it. Looked at a few more setups too.
Has anyone here setup anything like this?

A chain pull would also work, but chain is more expensive, of course. My first impression of this is that it reminds me of a hamster wheel for the upper body.

I like that setup that the guy used the dolly wheels and a weight stack to increase the tension level.

Maybe not, but something like this would. Something like this could be mounted on a ceiling or high on a wall. The rope wouldn't have to be continuous. You could pull on one end and then the other, going back and forth. The steel is a sink tailpipe that has a smooth, glassy surface.

Great idea. I think I'll to come up with something like this. What was you using this setup for? Isokinetic curls. As you can see from that last video, it doesn't take much. You could wrap a rope around that tailpiece to where you wouldn't be able to budge it. In making it, I first aligned the two 2x4's and clamped them together and then drilled a hole through both of them the same diameter as the tailpiece (can't remember what diameter). Next I pushed one end of the tailpiece through one of the holes and drilled through the 2x4 and tailpiece for a bolt and lock nut. I did the same with the other 2x4 being careful to keep the two 2x4's on the same alignment so that I'd be able to screw them both onto the plywood. I have the entire Hook system too. Another gentleman and scholar!

I've done a lot of rope pulling for around 25 years now. I hope You make the set up You like. I've done it for work but never desired to do it for my training session. There have been times that I've done it all day long. I would wake up and think to myself, "Why the heck am I sore". If You do this for some training sessions I would like to hear Your experiences JRMP.

Your rope pulling on the job IS your training session. I once worked with a guy in an office who previously worked in a warehouse, or something. A good part of his job entailed hauling something upward with a rope and pulley. Can't remember what it was he was hauling or why. He said that he and other guys would often have races. Even before telling me this, one of the first things I noticed about him was how broad his back was.

Bruce, sometimes it can feel like a training session. When You do something over and over again Your body gets use to it. If I do it every day it feels like nothing. The things I do have different resistance loads and even one thing I do with the rope is isometric.
