Behind the neck impinges the shoulders. Push or pull.

I can't think of anything in real life that involves pulling behind the neck. When you climb a ladder, you are pulling your arms in front of the body. When you put something on a high shelf, you are pushing your arms in front. We have a greater range of shoulder motion to the front than the back. We are made to do stuff in front of the body.

We do things on our back side young man. Do you ever wipe your behind after a number 2? How about scratching your back?

U are talking about a completely different plane of motion wiping ur bum or applying lower intensities while scratching ur back. Comparing apples with oranges here.
Behind the neck pull-up increases risk of shoulder impingement due to the extreme internal rotation & reduced range of motion involved. I know a little something about shoulder injuries & they take a very long time to heal under good conditions.
Shoulder impingement is a common problem in overhead athletes like gymnasts & occurs when the rotator cuff tendon and shoulder bursa are compressed under a bone on the shoulder blade which us what u are doing.
U want to do all that while pushing 70 & yet famously state u want to age gracefully unto old age. I can tell u that's not one of the ways to accomplish it. Stick to regular pull ups. Even front or back levers if u like.........but nothing behind the neck. That's unwise.

Worst part of behind neck pullups is almost everybody puts their head forward and this strains the neck mightily...I should know, it was in the middle of a set of behind neck pullups that I herniated a disc at C7...it was very painful and even after $100,000 worth of surgery my neck has never been the same. Pity too because behind the neck pullups with a medium grip was one of my favorite exercises, it really built the midback.
Brother Pierini, I see you nodding your head forward on your pullups....don't say I didn't warn you...

Despite this, stuff can still happen from something as innocent as walking or even sleeping. Greg Newton injured his shoulder sleeping I recall.

I think that injuries tend to happen more due to chronic exhaustion than due to form. There's so many strong guys out there with perfect form squat and deadlift who still end up with permanent knee and back injuries, just because they think that "no pain no gain" and force themselves to work beyond their body's capability to recover. I think that as long as you don't put an unnecessary amount of pressure on your joints when your muscles are failing, you should be fine. Pierini, I've watched multiple of your videos in the past weeks, and from what I've seen, you seem to know when to safely stop an exercise, so I'm not too worried.

I would not do them, nor would I recommend that anyone do them. There are other ways to safely work the same muscles.

Just my opinion. Someone can do whatever they want. If it hurts don't do it. Some people can get away with more than others when it comes to some exercises. There are some that have done certain exercises that everyone says will harm You all their training life. Daryl Contant comes to mind with some of Vince Gironda exercises. It's definitely a different story for someone that has never did long term physical work and has made their living sitting on their backside. Also, another variable is how often You do the exercise. If You do the exercise once in a while or for a month it may not harm You. I personally have no desire, see no benefits(for myself), or would not recommend it to someone I care about. I've seen many of his videos and some of the KB ones have stuck out to me. The top of Your KB snatch is the reason why Your wrist bother You, You have told me in the past.
