I have six Bullies of different sizes and resistance levels. Between them, I have a resistance level for every exercise I do. There's no adjusting anything, I just pick up the particular Bully I use for a particular exercise. I did have seven, but I sold the X5 Gold. You sold the best Bullworker ever made aside from the Steelbow 28.... I hardly ever used that one.

Normally I wouldn’t pass a deal like that up, I usually buy them and either give them away to friends / relatives who show interest or I resell to co-workers for what I paid. This was the first time I hesitated and let someone else ‘steal’ it at that price 😎 There were forces at work we don't understand! I understand it perfectly 😎 lonerwolf.com/synchronicity/

The synchronicity in this situation is positively serendipitous...

Someone once told me this was a case of Synchronicity:
Years ago I was telling a coworker how much I liked a particular news anchor. He said, "Yes, he's very 'avuncular'". I said, "Yes, he is......'avuncular'....indeed......very 'avuncular'...that's him, alright....."
I had never seen nor heard that word before and had no clue what it meant. Of course I looked it up. That very same day I was reading a news magazine and there was a picture of Ted Kennedy with John, Jr. The caption read, "an avuncular Ted Kennedy..."

I really like this guys channel having watched it for a while. Too bad he some health issues that prevent him from making videos regularly.
This current version of the X5, I have a hard time calling it that, is not something I'm interested in. To me it's a 28" bullworker pro with 5 springs. Great if someone wants it, but I want the old style x5 with interchangeable springs and cable straps. I know it would be difficult to make, but that's it. And for $250, heck even $150 it's not something I would buy. I do see many are buying it and say they love it and that's great for them.

I recently purchased an X5 Gold for a grand total of $108 and all I can say is WOW! A great tool for sure. Looked great to begin with, but took it apart anyway to clean and inspect and this is the only older bully I have that has ZERO rust on the old springs. It was clean to begin with, but I washed it down with lysol wipes and a cloth wipe down. I put te straps in warm mild dish-soapy water and let hang dry. I did a few sprays of WD-40 on the springs, the spring guides and into the spring stops. The spring stops appear to be fastened into the middle tube by glue or something. I could not get them out and did not want to break so left alone. All pieces are a step up from the regular X5. It was smooth before taking apart and really just as smooth after....no noticeable difference.
Like Magnus said, there is a certain feel to it that's unique. It's as if the pushback is the same as the compression. I think it's the type of spring that is different from the other ones and the spring stops are like a polished hard plastic that makes the action smoother. It's almost like a pulley machine in a gym. It feels sturdier and tension tighter from the get go. I measured the resistance at 107 on my bathroom scale. No stickers, bag or instructions but gotta say I love it.
I had been thinking of purchasing the XO Hard Type Solid from Japan but saw people who have them say the resistance is 77lbs and the cost to get here to USA is about $121 US. Then, I saw the X5 Gold for less and went with it.
Today, I saw on a BW Facebook site someone said the XO is being sold thru internet Walmart for $118US plus tax......interesting....

There are so many BW models, I would not know an "X5 Gold" if I saw one.
I've seen some called "X5 Gold" that are just black, some that have gold on the tubes, some that have gold colored plastic(?) handles. Who knows what an authentic one actually looks like?

If they don't have a gold tube then they are not an X5 Gold edition. The X5 Gold has a gold coloured tube. Some have mustard yellow handles but also have the gold tube.

There have been so many models through the decades which was a reason I hesitated to buy in the first place. My first encounter with the BW was the BW II. I did not have enough money to buy it and when I saved and did there was a BW3 for more money. That made me think there was something wrong with the BWII. I mean why put out a new model unless the previous was inferior in some way. About a year or two later the X5 came out for even more money and was re-designed and made me think the previous ones were all inferior, etc. I gave up on them and went with weights never again having to think I was scammed into a piece of equipment that would become broken or archaic. I see now I was wrong on all of it as the Hughes folks are doing the same thing with new types every few years.....such is the marketing of equipment. When it all comes down to it, a BW is a spring or 2 in some tubes with a strap that allows for compression and to be pulled apart and each has a different feel to me.

I wonder how long it will be before they release a new 36" X5? The reason for the straps on the original X5 is so you can get more range on the pulling exercises than you can with the regular cables. If you have a shorter tube as with the 28" model, you obviously have shorter straps and therefore less range. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that as the 28" is a good size but so is the 36". Both have their advantages.
