Didn’t view the video but read comments so have an idea of content. Michael, I believe you know my thoughts on this, they’re not worth repeating here.

Always good to hear what others have done and experienced as a result. For me, cardio ALWAYS helped reduce bodyfat when combined with a better diet than diet alone. Just my experience.

If I was honest I probably don't agree with everything he says. But I'm far from an expert, scientist, and haven't had to lose to much weight for a long time.
One thing I found true that he said was it's easier for me to lose weight just doing strength or hypertrophy without cardio. I believe Whiffet mentioned this a long time ago. The reason being for me is cardio makes me hungry and I tend to eat more. I can control my appetite better when I keep cardio in check.

Given the multiple ways cardio can be performed, my senior mind can't grasp how one can generalize on its effects . My 20+ minutes of cardio using a suspension device does not increase my appetite; perhaps it's because my version of cardio triggers fat burning .

HeavyHanders who rigorously follow the protocol will likely burn fat with their daily "marathon" cardio sessions as did Dr Len Schwartz .

I think it's best to look at this from the angle of losing weight which happens when you have a consistent calories deficit - calories in are less than calories out. With this deficit, weight will eventually be lost so it's a question of how much of this weight loss will be fat versus muscle. Based on my experience and the experiences of many people sharing their initial and long-term successes at the My Fitness Pal discussion forum (before I was banned), the best results of weight loss and body fat reduction comes from a quality progressive resistance weight training program, a consistent and sensible daily calories deficit (which I define for men as no more than 500 calories a day) and long and slow steady-state cardio. Honestly, even though it's time consuming, I think a brisk 60 minute daily walk may be best.
I've used a heart-rate monitor for a long time and have lots of archival training info. Based on the activities I've done, it's hard to beat a good pace running workout for calories burned. I know that cross country skiing is perhaps the best. I've never done that activity so don't have any stats but I don't doubt the assertion.

I used to x-country ski and it is a hell of a workout But, I don't have any stats to add to this One thing for sure is that I wore several light layers of clothing and as long as the wind was not too bad, I'd end up with only the bottom layer on when I was done

I know this goes against the grain, but when I lost 50lbs, I did no cardio and did not count calories. I'm sure I was in a calorie deficit because I used the Clarence Bass diet. All I did for exercise was calisthenics and self-resistance. something that Scott Iardella told me one time, "Calorie deficits is a proven way to lose weight, including muscle tissue. For body composition changes, I much prefer a change in macronutrients. This has worked for decades for me personally."

I know this goes against the grain, but when I lost 50lbs, I did no cardio and did not count calories. ...... I don't understand. What or whose grain does that go against? A person doesn't need to increase their activity at all to lose fat/weight. Following a diet that restricts calories merely by doing it, like Bass', or fasting for days to a week or eating only fruits and veggies or eating nothing but cold potatoes with a bit of salt - these will automatically lower calories without a need to count. Even eating the same things and number of daily feedings as ever, but in smaller portions will work. It's dietary science. When one consistently eats less daily calories than needed for fat/weight maintenance, it causes ketosis and reduction.
I agree. Maintaining gross calories by increasing protein and lowering calories from the other macros automatically reduces net calories due to the higher number of calories burned to use the protein. It works for everyone, as far as I know.

Where can I find the details of your success story? How tall are you and how much do you weigh? Clarence diet is about 2700 calories. Did you eat so much? And what was your split routine and how long did you do calisthenics and self resistance training per day? How long did it take to lose 50 lbs? Hope for an answer!
