I know this goes against the grain, but when I lost 50lbs, I did no cardio and did not count calories. I'm sure I was in a calorie deficit because I used the Clarence Bass diet. All I did for exercise was calisthenics and self-resistance. something that Scott Iardella told me one time, "Calorie deficits is a proven way to lose weight, including muscle tissue. For body composition changes, I much prefer a change in macronutrients. This has worked for decades for me personally." Hi Michael! Thanks for your info. Where can I find the details of your success story? How tall are you and how much do you weigh? Clarence diet is about 2700 calories. Did you eat so much? And what was your split routine and how long did you do calisthenics and self resistance training per day? How long did it take to lose 50 lbs? Hope for an answer! Thomas losing weight was one of the best things I did for myself. I have wrote about my weight loss in the past, here and elsewhere. But most here wouldn't be interested. I'm 5'11" and weigh 170 lbs now. When I decided to try and lose weight I weighed 220lbs. It was probably around 2007-08 when I started, can't remember everything exactly. But I give You a generalization of what I did. A friend of mine leant me the first "Ripped" book by Clarence Bass. I don't have this book now but do have a couple of his other ones. I consider Bass an expert. At the time I needed to lose weight I was dealing with plenty of injuries and had chronic pain. So I decided to can the weights and happened to find JP. So at that time I thought the way he taught was the best way to train and maybe become pain free. I don't remember exactly what I did training wise at the time. I trained calisthenics and self-resistance 5-6 days a week. I did not use a split. At that time I trained with ego so I was doing pushups and bodyweight squats everyday with self-resistance in between sets. Sometimes I would throw in pullups. It was a hot mess of a way to train. I followed an ego manic. If I had to do it all over again I probably would have followed Bass's book," Ripped 3" to a T, training and diet. I don't remember exactly but it took me around 4 months. But don't quote me on that. By the way, I figured out the calories that I ate at the time. With the three meals it came out to 1856 calories. The highest if I ate snacks was 2356 calories. That's on the high side, and would have been dependent on the food for the snack. Most of the time I just ate the 3 meals.

Thanks, Thomas! I have counted my calories from time to time but I haven't been consistent. But I'm a pretty uniform eater now because of my budget. I believe my maintenance calories are 2500 calories. Again this may go against what others think but I eat below that most days and my weight now fluctuates from 170 to 175lbs. I have even done my own experiments by weighing and measuring everything because I want to know what happens myself. My oldest son left a food scale at my house so I made good use of it with my experiments that I keep to myself. I don't know if people disagree with this, but on my Mom's side of the family, everyone has/had diabetes. This can make a difference in how Your body reacts to certain foods because I'm guessing it's hereditary. So I have noticed now I have to lower my carb intake compared to before.

I remember taking stabs at Joe Justice and his stubborn belly fat, the only person I knew whose puss gut grew the more daily cardio and Transformetric training secret exercises he did.
Anyone remember his ass shot photo when he lifted his legs behind his head while laying on his bag and wearing a dingy wife-beater t-shirt? What a classic photo.

I think it was his backyard because he had a rope hanging and some other stuff. Sure didn't look like the parks You exercise at. , he thought he was Heman. I can see You rocking the wife beater t-shirt,
