He used a very large percentage of his brain power and was a genius. Maybe this allowed him to recruit a higher percentage of his muscle fibers too and made him stronger than average person.

One of the members on Aging Macho Men II has posted a link to information that cited Leonardo's use of "weight lifting" using various tools and objects he created.
Another site had posted a bunch of nonsense, yet again, claiming Da Vinci was an isometrics advocate. However, the history that was posted vs. that site's speculation and spin shows anything but.
This same site, btw, also claimed Henry David Thoreau, author, one of the founders of the transcendalist movement in the US, and, huge advocate of walking was instead an isometrics practicioner and advocate.
