So I keep reading about doing isometrics with a 30/30/30 system. Is this done with 3 30 second contraction for each contractions, sort of like contract 30 seconds, relax then immediately contract again for 30 seconds, relax then immediately contract again for 30 seconds?

sierraexercise.proboards.com/thread/685/overcoming-isometrics-hitSilverlooks talks about it a little on this thread. It's in Drew Baye's isometric book. If I get something wrong because I don't have the book in front of me hopefully someone will correct me. It's 30 seconds at About 50%, straight into the next 30 second contraction which You try and do harder, and then straight into the third 30 second contraction which You go as hard as You dare.

Yes it's just one contraction, ramping up every thirty seconds.

Fitvet..... Last year I did a 12 week long-duration isometric experiment. The final result was that I lost size and gained strength. Silverlooks claims that 30/30/30 has built size as effectively as lifting weights. I'm not going to do his protocol because I wouldn't have the patience for it, and I prefer progressive resistance training. If you're interested, I kept a detailed log of my experiment: sierraexercise.proboards.com/thread/19/bruce-tacketts-logBTW, what are you a veteran of?

Thanks guys. I also picked up a tow strap and a couple of quick connect links and I'm going to try and price together a isometric belt. I'll post pics if it isn't a disaster.
