When doing bench it feels more of a muscle and tendon action, the pushup is totally different. Doing pushups, now don't take this the wrong way but as a woman my boobs get fully pumped, my nipples get hard and stick out. Not that it's a bad thing, make me feel sexy. What have you men noticed between bench vs pushups?

Barbara for me I have not bench pressed in about 12 years maybe. I prefer push ups but to make them harder by tension or leverage. I sometimes use cables, self resistance or isometrics for chest. Right now I'm trying to get the visual of Bruce's chest out of my head, .

We like to give targeted direct feedback of almost a clinical nature to our beloved forum members. Thank you so much for the verbal visual. Extraordinary in it's detail

If you do incline pushups it will work the upper nipple(un), decline the ln and cockeyed or staggered the lateral sides. TR will probably provide numerous sites and info saying it is impossible to isolate the bellies and insertions of targeted muscles under load. But remember to always work the Temporal, Intensity and Tension for maximum stimulus. I will not provide the corresponding acronym because it may be misconstrued.

I have always preferred pushups to bench presses. Pushups engage more muscles, making it an all-round exercise, and, as far as I'm concerned, they build your pecs to just the right size. I've never liked those bulbous pecs bodybuilders aim for.

Miss Barbara, This may not really be a problem, depending on how far down you can descend when doing pushups. If you can get to where your upper arms are parallel to the floor, you've probably gotten the maximum benefit. If you can't do that without nipples hitting the deck, maybe 3 small boxes of equal height, one under each hand and one under the feet, would enable you to do this exercise without the distraction.

I somehow highly doubt that she is a real she, but at least it keeps you old guys drooling

Really?? The same thing happens to me! Strange how with bench we don't get that same pump. Pushups work the triceps more than bench and bench the back.

Ms Barbara, maybe 3 small boxes of equal height, one under each hand and one under the feet. Is this what you do to clear your belly off the floor? Floor pushups are no problem.

I find the bench press much easier than the press up. With a bench press, the body is supported so it is much easier (IMO) to achieve perfect form over the entire set. I find with press ups my form slips after a few reps; I find if difficult to keep the body in a straight line.
