(I'm lactose intolerant...) So is my wife. We get lactose free milk. Isn't it a bit pricey? If I really do need "milk" for a recipe or for a bowl of something, I just use Almond Milk. Don't like using it because of the fillers, but, don't have much choice sometimes.

I'm allergic to the protein in diary. So milk, cream, cheese and butter can't be a part of my diet. At one time I was a big milk drinker and liked cheese. Until I found out I was allergic.

Most of us desire to eat healthy but it's not easy to know what is healthy for us . For example in my case, eating generous amounts of chicken and fish may be casual factors with my cancer . Alternatively, entropy(cell replication errors with aging) may be the culprit. Meanwhile, I'm able to remain very active which I hope is healthy medicine .

Spuds, You're citing hard core/severe dieting to get ready for a bodybuilding contest. This also includes water restriction, to reduce that 'layer' of water, between the skin and muscle. the combination of those two actions is perceived as 'stress' by the body -- starvation, water deprivation -- so, cortisol gets released and muscle wasting results. Pretty straightforward. And quite different from what I'm referencing from Darden's clients, for example when they reduce calories and they also increase their water consumption to a gallon (sometimes more) of cold water per day. www.exercisesolution.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/Superhydration.htmSo, you didn't read Ian Duckett's article then? It's all about how bodybuilders (which I am not) will benefit from not doing what you think the article is about; "hard core/severe dieting to get ready for a bodybuilding contest". That is exactly what Ian says to avoid and his article supports what you're saying. Did the link not work for you?

"Finish all your vegetables." How many times did we hear that growing up? We all pretty much know what is healthy and what isn't. I don't concern myself with any particular type of diets, I just eat what I know to be healthy throughout the day - proteins, fruits, and vegetables, and I've very gradually eaten less and less, shrinking my stomach. For me, ice cream is the big killer. That will blow my attempts at losing weight faster than anything. Judging from your recent results, you must be doing something right.

I hope you are doing OK. From what I learned on the Cancer Tutor website and The Truth About Cancer documentary, exercise is quite beneficial.

Hmmm. Instead of bro-science 'bodybuilding nutrition', why not eating for health? Longevity? Disease prevention? Dr. Barry Sears -- the author of the Zone, PhD, etc. -- has written via his research, work with athletes, that you can't 'eat to build muscle' by overconsuming protein, etc. Your muscles will grow via a complex process of hormonal and other biochemical actions. Not "bodybuilding nutrition". Amen !

Meanwhile while I'm vertical I'll keep on truckin' Grunt, Not playing MD, but, just asking out of great concern for you: have you seen the film on Amazon called Cancer Can Be Killed. They talk about two or three non-standard cancer treatments. One included heat (my wife's a nurse and said yes it legit and has been used for various treatments) and a plant-based diet focused on greens (focused on the research citing the benefits of alkaline-centric diets) that halted stage 4 cancers in the people interviewed. I don't know if would help, but, these people were on their final options and the treatments discussed provided a cure. Apologies if this is any way out of line, but, hoping for the very best for you

TR and thinman, many thanks for the links . I am currently going mostly vegan ala Dr Longo's Longevity Diet with a mindset that every calorie is either a health gain or a health loss
