Thanks to Texas Ranger for digging up this old pic of me: This was taken when I was about 48. And now at almost 60: Some of the older members here will remember me by my old handle on Portalguy’s and the Yuku boards as MBS. My approach to fitness is pretty much the same, with a few age related tweaks.

Any secrets you can whisper in our ears about your current diet and training?

I can't remember where the first picture appeared, but JP saw it, and one of his forum members (JJ) and I emailed, and he said JP sent him an email that said in part, "...the guy looks fantastic, reminds me of my uncle Milo..."

You have more of a weightlifter's build these days.

You have more of a weightlifter's build these days. With the exception of trap bar deadlifts, which I did this morning, I haven’t used weights in years. However I do use a weight vest occasionally for pull-ups and dips. These days I do less volume, and focus on the eccentric portion of the movements. Lots of dead hangs from the bar for grip and shoulders, and a variety of core work from a dead hang too. The key to maintaining a decent physique is commitment and consistency. Never getting out of shape makes it easier to stay in shape. The other important thing is sustainability, especially for us north of 50. Can you envision your current approach as viable 10 years ( or more ) from now? If not, you may want to rethink things. The only thing ive given up is sprints. I had a grade 2 calf tear doing steep hill sprints in 2012, and it took several months to heal. Decided to let them go. A couple years later, I tweaked my hamstring running short sprints on grass, so I decided to let them go too. I miss that exhilarating feeling of all out sprinting.

Maybe someday I’ll ease back into them, but not for now. Grade 2, according to Mr. Internet, is pretty serious. Sounds like you lucked out. How about intervals on a bike -- indoor, mountain, etc.? How about the diet? Still doing yoga occasionally?

^^^^^^it was a humbling injury.^^^^ Required a lot of patience while healing. ( the bike/ intervals are a good idea. It’s just rare that I’m in the gym. Mostly workout in the park/ bar work at home, and the trap bar is set up in the backyard.
Re diet: I keep it simple. Fruit, greens, some nuts, lots of water, very strong coffee in the morning ( black or a dash of heavy cream ). My go to animal protein sources at home are wild caught sardines in water, and wild Alaskan salmon. A little cheese, sourced from New Zealand cows. In social situations/ eating out, I’m a little more flexible, and just try to make the best choices available.
Edit: Yes, my gf and I take a weekly yoga class, and it kicks my ass! Some of those twisty static poses are tough.I’m drenched in sweat afterwards. ( it’s not “ hot yoga”, but they do turn the ac back in the studio. ).

Were you doing IF or skipping breakfast in the past and if so, are you still practicing this option? Or am I incorrect?

Yes, skipping breakfast. I don’t have a fast rule on the time I first eat, but it’s usually around 10-30-11am. I normally wake up at six, have coffee, check the markets, and then go for a walk and do some strength work.

Take heart, whippersnappers! There is life beyond 60. I'll be 70 in November and I'm still doin' it - weights, bodyweight, bands and aerobics. Here's the last pic taken of me at age 67... I plan to have a couple of pics taken of me on my 70th Birthday, and I am working very hard towards that end.

Tiberius, do you take any supplements at all? I know at one time your were doing only chins and dips in the park by you house? Still vest walking 4 to 5 days a week? Thank you for any information.
