I found this video on Youtube and thought it might be an interesting exercise option
Went out to my garage and tried the roll technique with a sandbag on the mats and it worked great I'm going to increase the sand weight and incorporate this into my routine

Since my garage setup precludes me from keeping my heavy bag permanently hung up, I have to climb a short stepladder with it to hang it/detach it every time I use it. I started lifting and carrying the bag a few different ways before putting it up and after taking it down. It's only a 70 pounder, but between doing that and punching it, the whole thing turns out to be a pretty good full body workout. I've often thought that if I had to pare things down to just one weighted object for exercise, it could very well be my heavy bag.

Yeah....the heavy bag is a great workout I have one myself from the gym I used to work at It's about 100 lbs which makes me glad that I don't have to do what you do Lately, I've been getting back into Turkish Get Ups and have wondered about taking my bag down and wrestling with that trying to get up with it.......maybe I've been using an Olympic bar and a sandbag to lift and have a section of 4" PVC pipe that I plan to make into a "slosh pipe" I want to get a larger filler bag for the sandbag to increase the weight

What length of 4" pipe would you use for the slosh tube, BF? Mikey I have a 9 foot length of it in my garage and I also have an Olympic bar, i'm using the 4" because I have it on hand. My idea is to cut the pipe to about the same length as the bar. I think the bar is about 6 feet long. This is all in the development stage so you may want to use your own judgement But here's a DIY video on the pipe :

Thanks, BF. 6' sounds like it would be a good length for me, too. The girl in this vid? ...... Wow! I've never seen anyone take so long, or do so much screwing around with materials, when glueing up plastic pipe! She'd never keep up in a production scene!

Mikey Update on the slosh pipe I have a 9 foot piece of 4" PVC pipe which I was going to use, then reconsidered as it may be too big for my hand when doing TGUs Bought a 10 foot piece of 2" as they didn't have any 3" at HD It works OK but is lighter than I expected it to be, I hoped it would be a little heavier than it is I'm glad that i didn't cut it down Since I have the 4", I will also use that I wouldn't get pipe less than 3" if you are going to do this When I makeup the 4", I will start with the existing length of 9 feet, if need be, I can always cut it down Depending on hw that works out....there's always the Olympic bar which is heavy enough

Wildman Johnny Grube has a heavy bag course that is pretty thorough. Heavy bag shouldering done the way he shows becomes an incredible strength and cardio workout all in one it’s awesome.
