Thanks for posting Ido Portals 30 day hang challenge. I just completed it!
The backstory: I’ve been dealing with a nagging shoulder issue for over 15 years, and about the time you posted this, I’d strained my delt doing weighted chins. Plus I’ve never done grip work, which clearly was an error on my part. Anyways, I decided to take a break from working my regular movements, and decided to do NOTHING but hanging on the bar, but still getting 10,000 plus steps in a day. After three weeks of hanging, I felt the urge to start pulling again. I was amazed how much stronger I felt on the bar.
But heres the best part: my shoulders no longer hurt, and feel better than they have in 20 years! No pain, and oddly, just hanging on the bar has shaped my delts. I did 5-10 minutes a day, spread throughout the day, every day.Did it in blocks of 30 seconds. I work from home, so this approach was easy.
I have reaped numerous benefits from this protocol, with a much improved grip, and have the healthiest shoulders I’ve had in 20 years.
Thanks my Caneguru brother!

Your Welcome Tiberius! I've been there before so I know what You went through. Glad to hear about Your results! The great thing about hanging is it can strengthen everything but You legs. I had golfer's elbow so bad in both of my elbows years ago. Hanging is what helped get rid of it. I don't hang everyday now but I do hang 3 times a week for my grip work. Here's another good video for anyone with golfer's elbow. The way he shows how to grab the bar for pull ups has been priceless for me.

In one of his interviews, Steve Maxwell mentioned that an orthopedic surgeon told him that by hanging from the bar, consistently, several times a day, that most people can correct their shoulder issues without an invasive procedure. All I know is the shoulder ache that I figured I’d just learn to live with, is gone! Good stuff. I think you're referring to Dr. John M. Kirsch. That's the guy who quit operating on shoulders and instructed his patients to hang. It's what convinced me to give it a try ---- when I heard Steve Maxwell mention him, I mean. I think it was in one of the Joe Rogan interviews of Steve.

The cure for golfer's elbow that worked best for me was to loop rubber bands around my fingers near the tips and open my hand against the resistance. I also avoid chin-ups with the palms facing me and only hold in a pullup hand position. Even when I do an actual (and infrequent) full ROM pullup, I only do one, very slowly, with hands above my shoulders instead of the wide grip I typically use when I hang.
