You start to lose fat as soon as it is used for fuel, due to a deficit in calories that is eaten or drank. i lost 50 lbs. of fat in 2015, but had lost smaller amounts previously before stumbling on what worked for me. The main thing is that your goal is to BE HUNGRY. Then you are on the right track! Eat whatever you normally eat, but cut that amount in half. In between your regular small meals, eat however many carrots or pickles that you want (I used pickles, partly because it was summer and I needed the salt due to perspiration). And drink lots of water! Gradually get used to eating less, and in a few weeks, it will be normal for you. If your aren't hungry, then don't eat, or eat less. Let hunger be your guide. I weighed myself once a week, and still do. You can still lift weights, etc., but keep the reps and sets fairly low. The main way to lose fat is to eat/drink fewer calories, since it takes a lot of work to lose fat, and is easier to just not consume the calories in the first place. That's about it. It does take commitment. Just jump right back in if you slip on the calorie consumption. It gets easier once you see results. Also, by writing down what I ate in previous weight loss experiments was another way to keep track of where the calories were coming from, and I lost fat without trying too hard.
