Perhaps Grizzly Adams would have lasted longer if they had included good old fashioned physical labor and some Big Ben wrestling in the show. The one thing I recall is where Mad Jack (Denver Pyle) stated he took a bath once per year whether he needed it or not. Needless to say my Mom didn’t agree with that line of thinking.

An acquaintance of mine recently had a black bear come into her yard and attack her dog. She threw a stool at the bear to distract it and then was mauled herself when the bear turned it's attention to her. Her husband came to her rescue with a handgun and shot over the bear because he did not want to hit her by accident. The bear ran off. The dog didn't make it and she received some nasty claw wounds to both arms. Hard for me to look at bears with any sense of them being cute any longer.

One day that bear will turn and rip his fucking face off good luck with that dude. The bear is being extremely soft because he does not want to harm him. I have seen videos of big felines, bears, etc... attacking people and it is frightful. I recall a particular compilation video: it showcased a gorilla rescuing a human baby from a flood with immense care, then 2 other unrelated gorillas were testing each other smashing the ground and the ground trembled hard, the camera twisted like Chubby Checker from at least 30 feet away...

When I was a kid in the early 70s a bear with a trainer came to a local mall and challenged all to wrestle it. You could win a $100 dollars which was big money. I think you had to pay $10 which was probably like $100 now. It was a smallish black bear about 325 pounds. A huge local ironworker/powerlifter agreed to wrestle it. This guy was about 6 foot 5 inches and over 300 pounds and known throughout the area for his sheer physical strength. He could bench close to 500 pounds and had something like a 650 squat and about the same deadlift. He also had been an all state high school wrestler in Pennsylvania which is a huge wrestling state like Iowa.
The trainer said anything goes but absoultely no kicks to groin. Trainer said one guy did that and was severely injured by bear. It has a muzzle on its mouth so it could not bite.
They faced off and the bear simply got up on two legs and placed its paws on the guys shoulders. The guy was trembling like a leaf and I could not believe how he was almost immobile and was not moving. It was like the bear was trying to push him down through the floor. The man was beet red with veins popping out through this neck. He was trying to keep from being pushed down and could not mount any defense like trying to push the bear over. The technique of the bear would have made any NFL lineman proud. He was leaning forward with his rear legs spread wide and great leverage position.
After about 20 seconds the guy collapsed and the bear fell on top of him with his body and two front paws on his chest and that was it. He toyed with him even though weight wise they were close. Since it happened so fast the trainer made the bear lie on its back and invited the guy to "pin" him. As soon as he "pinned him" the bear simply rolled over on top of the guy and he was immobile. It was one of the coolest things I ever saw.
I could only imagine what a 1000 pound plus grizzly/brown/Kodiak could do.

Funny just last week I read a book on bears called "Eight Bears"...apparently they are very intelligent, probably smarter than wolves...

I think the scariest thing about a bear is that when it decides to eat you, it doesn't kill you first or wait for you stop moving, it literally pins you down ripping through your skin with it's claws and eats your face, neck and back of head, whilst you sit there screaming muffled sounds because he's eating your face!
Don't play with bears guys, I've never seen one in real life but the only time you would see me approaching one was if me or somebody I loved was in severe danger at which point I would pray for a tool of some sort, knowing I probably ain't got a chance.
The XL bully dog has just been heavily restricted in the UK, pretty much a ban... I don't fully agree with it but that's another subject, either way my relative has one it's a bitch so not as strong as a male dog but when I rough it up in a playful manner I feel it's force and it's muscles have so much more power than the average human, I couldn't begin to fathom what a fully grown bear that actually wanted to kill me would feel like, maybe like being ran over by a car going down a steep hill without the hand break on?

Lardy that is right on point. I remember reading an article in Field and Stream decades ago where a fisherman was attacked by a huge brown bear while fishing. It charged him and he fell to the ground and played dead. This was a huge bear close to 1500 pounds. When he stood on his back, the guy felt his lower back cracking. It took a swipe at the back of his head with one paw and tore something like 50% of his scalp off. When he got swatted he screamed and the bear became more aggressive. It bit off one of a major portion of one of his ass cheeks. Not the whole thing but a huge chunk. He screamed murder again and then the bear swatted him again breaking some of his ribs. Mercifully, he finally passed out from pain and the bear left. Some other people rescued him. They said the bear would have come back later for more food in the evening. He needed hundreds of stitches and his moral was it is impossible to play dead if a huge bear is attacking you unless you are dead or unconscious.

My uncle ran a lumber crew in Canada. He said they would sometimes get back to camp and find the trailer was missing a wall where a bear smelled food and ripped it open. They would abandon the trailer as the bear was bound to return.
“Didn’t you have guns?” I asked. “They only annoy the bears” Uncle replied!
