I read that walking on the sand can be 2.7x more taxing than walking on normal ground for your leg muscles. So how about get a tub of sand, and do Farmer Walks in place in the tub? Rub a dub dub, two buckets and a tub.

I guess it might be better than walking in place without the sand but still probably worse than walking forward on something firm. Have tried farmers walks in place and they seem pretty ineffective.

If I want to simulate the exercise stimulation of farmer or suitcase "walk" exercises while standing in one place, it would be using swings with likely some variations in degrees of of knee bends. I sometimes do that .... as a "pause" during an actual walk. I also enjoy walking with load(s) somewhat awkwardly, but not out of control.

Be sure to whistle while you march in place:

Almost any carry variation could be done standing in place. Just my opinion/experience, like Dave said, Farmer's walks don't tend not to lend themselves well standing in place. One sided carry variations probably are a better option. Try adding in a march while standing or even walking. You can slow them down or speed them up depending what feel You're after. I do suitcase carries everyday as a part of my corrective exercises.

I don't have the tub, but I filled two 5 gallon buckets pretty high with water and did forward lunges back and forth across the living room. The lunges were more like a forward stance in karate if you know how that step is. I held the buckets with palms forward to stress the bicep. I think the stretched bicep would stimulate growth like we hear is the principle for gymnasts having insane bicep development. Anyway, it was quite exhausting and gonna do 2 sets a night of this to near failure. It's more taxing than you might imagine. Between sets I do medicine ball sit-ups on my ab board. I did the move with dumbbells too, but the buckets seem to give an extra bounce or something and it feels more like it's doing something than the dumbbells.
