I love your posts brown43! So much can be done without anything more than what's in the house, no excuses to not do something.
All these boil down to the same things; for muscle building it's time under tension (weights, body weights, self tension) targeting a muscle or group of muscles and over a certain period of time. For cardio - use moves that incorporate many muscles and move many times within a certain time frame until you are huffing and puffing.

Before I set up my logging chains, I had tried to obtain free used fire hose from the FD. They said they didn't have any used ones to toss yet, but would give them to me when they did. I waited for a while and then it occurred to me that I already had logging chain, so why not use that? Several years ago, I bought two lengths of 3/8" x 14' "utility chain" (as labeled on the heavy vinyl bag it came in) on sale at the farm store for about $15 ea. I haven't needed to use it yet though. I have plenty of chain already, in addition to the anchored battle chains, I just couldn't pass up the deal. Never did use fire hose. The chains work just fine. Mine are 3/8" links, but if I wanted to make it more challenging, I could go to 1/2" links, etc. More on firehose use for exercise: (@ 4:32 they show battle hose) A youtube search for "fire hose battle rope" will find more vids. Here are a few ideas, invent your own:

The real science behind battling ropes is that John Brookfield asked God what the best way to train was and He told him something about water waves.

I think arm based cardio conditioning is one of the most effective forms. I also think the ropes allows you to get explosive work safely. The Olympic style work along with high pulls for repetitions made me suck wind more than anything else.

The Olympic style work along with high pulls for repetitions made me suck wind more than anything else. One of the yielding isometric exercises I do is to raise the chains (15' - 20', mine are 15' for each hand) overhead in a press position and hold them there, trying to arch back and pull them straight. I can't pull them straight, but trying kicks my ass in short order.

Ori Hofmekler (Warrior Diet) had a pretty good towel + sprints workout that I used from time to time in my combatives class.
