I searched for another thread about stick exercises, but only found a couple. THIS one had the most content. HERE's another short one. Mostly, I started this thread because I wanted somewhere to drop a video that I had on a note of scrap paper that I'm trashing while I clean up the house, but want to be able to find the video again.

HERE's a YouTube channel titled "Stick Mobility" which was posted by Bob50 in the "Training" forum. They use a pricey custom stick that, I suppose, they sell. Their stick is bendy, so maybe a 1.25 ID PVC pipe with end caps would be a good duplicate. Might be some good exercise suggestions there. I have lots of sticks. One of my favorites is a broomstick that nestles up into my armpit (about mid to upper shoulder ht), which I think is the perfect length for all the stick exercises that I do. The broomstick is heavier than bamboo or rattan, though, and quite rigid. I've tried using an old 1.125" OD bar from a trashed plastic barbell set. It slows down the movements considerably. I like the broomstick much better. When I switch to bamboo, it feels much lighter after the broomstick.

I used to do a xing yi staff routine I found on youtube and a few other very simple drills too. I did them with a rusty old barbell, so there was quite a lot of resistance compared with a real staff. It felt great as a shoulder exercise in particular, plus I could spend all day pretending to be a knight.

If one can do it, spinning a bar might be challenging for grip and forearms as well as shoulders? I'm not practiced on spinning, so I can only imagine.

I love when my girlfriend plays with my dong stick twig. I encourage her to do so. Fixed.

Jake Mace: Yeah I bet, I did try that for a while but the big range of motion for the wrist seemed a bit much compared to the weight of the bar. I followed along with this guy's video:
