I've been doing an exercise called "get up and down off the floor holding a weight" for a while now. My knees cannot take squats of lunges anymore so I have switched to more practical movements. I do this with a 20 pound dumbbell and really have no rules for the movement. Sometimes I pick a time limit (usually five minutes) and go for reps. Eventually all of us old people are going to make an unplanned trip to the floor and practicing this ahead of time will come in handy, .
