I personally do not see this happening anytime soon, we're not even close to this at the moment.
I will say though it is very possible to get around by public transport and walking/cycling and so on unless you work as a builder or engineer etc, office people and supermarket staff and so on would be fine.

The elite don't want people living in rural areas. Life can easily be made too expensive to or too awkward live in rural areas if councils choose to do so and the plebs will be forced to live in the towns. They've already been doing this for years.

You are 100% correct, once again. Behaviours and goods they cannot control with laws and taxes...they make illegal and socially verboten.
