Good for him at the age lifting heavy. He didn't look to good after he racked the weight. The video cut off but he looked a little hunched over. I'd rather be pain free than lift heavy like that. I guess guys that have sedentary jobs can get away with more things training wise. If for some reason I have to change the way I train when I'm older so be it. If it's pink DBs, self resistance, or Bruce's KSHD and it feels good/keeps me training I'm down. I'm definitely not there now.

Dude, he was getting out underneath the bar, you have to hunch over. You're reaching here looking for something wrong. Man, just keep training light or what ever fits you, but the man is stronger that most 20 year olds, and I'll bet he moves way better than other 72 years olds. Plus, his bone density is probably far beyond the "light" trainers.

You're are right I don't own a barbell so I don't lift heavy barbells. I lift heavy stuff almost everyday of the week at work. I mostly train with kettlebells because that's what I have. I don't have a problem with how anyone trains. It's their right to train anyway they want and I think it's great whatever someone is doing. I like to see people active and achieving what they want. Because my son is a Marine and You were a Marine I have much respect for You so I don't want to go on about this. Remember these are all just opinions. That is what's great about America.

I don't know many that once they reach a certain age, regardless of what they have done or haven't, don't have a few aches or pains. Its part of life. Some of my worse injuries have been with light weights just to note. Injury can happen and wear and tear can happen with anything. Both sides of my family were carpenters, masons, and coal miners and they all have their aches and pains too. I just didn't see in the video what I assumed you were seeing, that's all.
Didn't know your son was a Marine. That by default makes you part of the insane family! Semper Fi to him and your family!

I finally viewed the video and see no problem with the young man's movement as he exits the barbell. He looks strong. Now I don't think he might be able to do some advanced yoga work but he doesn't need to for his fitness pursuits.

Thanks JRMP! Semper Fi to Your Family and Yourself! Yes, definitely right about the aches and pains. But if I can prevent it or work around it I will. I will say that I haven't back squatted or deadlifted with a straight bar in many years. Reason being is I fractured vertabrae in my lower back and 4 discs were diagonesed as being herniated in 2007-8. Plus a 5 degree seperation in my left shoulder in the same year and the knee injuries. I've had many more injuries from tree work. So honestly watching some one back squat makes me hurt. So to be honest that's what I seen in the video, I seen myself. I do double KB, One Arm Rack, and Goblet squats which cause me no pain. At the time I found out about my back I was a mess physically. But now I have no pain in my lower back or shoulder. As long as I do the Stuart McGill exercises and KB Swings my back feels great. The bad thing about me is if You told me You wanted to train me I'd probably follow Your advice to a T, as dumb as it may sound to some, even if it hurt. , if You don't believe me ask Pierini.

Now I don't think he might be able to do some advanced yoga work but he doesn't need to for his fitness pursuits. Read my post Ed to JRMP. I think You guys kind of miss read my post. I'm happy for someone that can do that. I can't and have no desire to do it. If someone looks down on me for it that's fine. I have no problem with You guys seeing this different. I actually enjoy watching the old guy do that, yes he is strong. But remember there are different kinds on strengths, some that You probably don't consider a strength but that's ok. You guys are my fitness brothers from another mother. You know how You have some philosophies here are some of mine for strength and work: Strength and Muscle Hypertrophy are not opposite. An exhibition of strength is not strength. ( Don't take that saying as to me saying that oldman is not strong, because he is strong. it has nothing to do with the video) Strength building happens anytime You lift, all lifts build strength. Strength or resistance exercise can counteract the stresses of manual labor. The stronger and healthier Your body is, the longer You will be able to complete tasks that require repetitive stress. By strengthening key muscle groups, You can reduce Your likelihood of injury on the job. Many jobs cause a significant amount of stress on the muscles, bones, and joints. Train One's body to better sustain the activity of their everyday lives and beyond.

Geezers can minimize the risk of heavy lifts by doing partials and by ignoring the ridicule of doing so.

There are many different categories of strength. 7 that I know of are listed below. Arborists have an abundance of agile & endurance strength as their job billet keenly develops those attributes. So, in theory Michael should have the abilities of a danseur to do a pirouette.
Agile Strength Endurance Strength Explosive Strength Absolute Strength Relative Strength Starting Strength Speed Strength

I think the most useful strength of all is the type you build with a routine like Bryce Lanes 50/20. It simply builds everything.
