Billy Mills lived in Fair Oaks which is a suburb of Sacramento. He worked in the insurance business, may have been his own boss. I attended the USA Olympic Trials for track and field when they were held in Sacramento and he was there one day. He took a bow after being introduced. The most unassuming and humble person you could ever cross paths with in public. Wishing him the best, he represented the USA proudly, stood on the stand when the National Anthem was played. Nothing like this emerging nonsense that the woman's hammer throw woman recently did.

Is there a statue of Mills erected anywhere? There should be. Never saw one so no to my knowledge, just like there's no Tommy Kono statue. Interesting is that he's recognized in York, PA, home of Bob Hoffman's York Barbell Company.
