On the internet, it discusses him doing bicep curls and triceps exercises.
Does anyone know of the Doug Hepburn curl. It is supposed to be different as it exercises the arms and the shoulders/chest/back.

There's a few articles on the ditillo blog that Hepburn wrote about curling. He advocates a very strict, competitive style that involves a lot of bracing, so maybe that's where the idea it hit the other muscles comes from.

What Hepburn says in this is what I've always believed. Keep those elbows in and the upper arm still. Two things I would add: 1, Use the full range of motion, from the bar touching the thighs through to it touching the chest (if possible). 2. Keep the knees pulled up, which I think is important for any exercise that you perform standing - more stability and it helps keep the body in line.

Yeah he's got a few articles about it there. It's quite unusual for someone to discuss curling technique for max weight and not arm growth, I guess it was still early days for powerlifting and the curl was taken more seriously.

.... I guess it was still early days for powerlifting and the curl was taken more seriously. Or, perhaps, they made exercise seem as ergonomically difficult as possible to discourage any potential competition from those with body mechanics dissimilar from their own? I wonder how they played in private?

I wonder how they played in private? The advice makes sense and I think it's unlikely Hepburn lied about how to do a curl, but I guess we'll never know. If only there was a member of this board who was a close personal friend of Doug's, perhaps someone who wore his hat...

My Dad met Doug Hepburn in the early 1950's when he ran around and trained with the guys at Ed Yarick's Gym in Oakland, CA. Here are three photos my Dad had of him:
I recall my Dad having nothing but good things to say about him. His strength is well known given his disability with a bunk foot. If something is published where he said something, I would accept it as true. Additionally, I vaguely recall Strength Baron had a connection with Doug Hepburn. May have been nothing more than a fascination; can't remember.

What about the Bruce Tackett curl? The curl he used to build his legendary guns to mythical proportions.
Speaking of Bruce, he hasn’t been seen in these here parts for awhile..
