I read the article and wonder if this written by a vegan?
I can't conceive 1 egg a day (or more) causing diabetes. The fat in the egg helps digest sugar without insulin spiking as a number of low level diabetics are advised to adjust diet to include fat to slow sugar into the bloodstream.
If this were true, then a lot of bodybuilders would be diabetics.
Unless they are eating the egg with a loaf of bread and a pint of jelly then I'd say no way, but I'm not a nutritionist.

Excess protein is converted to sugar. If ur genetically predisposed to diabetes, it's possible. Methinks it's Gaslighting here to sell more nonfat products that companies are pushing. However, eggs are NOT dairy products. Eggs are simply kept in the dairy section for convenience as both have a high turnover.
