GoRuck.com Has a small pack called the Rucker for exercise as well as a minimalist plate carrier worn to house specially crafted 20-30 lb weights. All their packs have a built in inside pocket for these crafted plates. Their angle is that it’s more comfy to hike and exercise with the weight close to the body located on the upper back. My assumption is you can’t load up the plate carrier as much as you can a weight vest, but you could with a Ruck. I don’t have the carrier but I do sport the GR2 pack for travel and rucking. It’s one of the best products I’ve purchased in many years. Super durable but also the most comfortable pack I’ve ever used. Looks awesome when worn too.

This thread got my interest as I had an old Army rucksack years ago and used to go for walks with it. I picked up a bag of sand from a local lumberyard which weighed about 50lbs if I remember correctly . It was a great workout but the ruck had no waist strap or chest strap so it was awkward to walk in as it would bounce off my lower back . Just last week I got an Army surplus rucksack on ebay and it is great.....it is a "MOLLE" pack with nice wide shoulder straps and a comfortable waist belt Took it out for a test run this AM with one of my hurricane season sandbags in it, the sandbag weighs about 30lbs and it was very comfortable I didn't push it as it is my first time going out with it and I only went about a mile. I really felt it in my legs and glutes so decided to be smart and not overdue it The best part of it is that I got it for free....it came missing a couple of non-essential buckles. It was only after I contacted the seller about them that I realized that I didn't need them to set up the ruck and frame. The seller couldn't find the buckles and told me to keep the ruck and refunded my money ! Does it get any better than that ? Curious how this is going for You Billfish? If I would have read this post before I committed to buying a weighted vest I would have bought the same as You. Anyway, I bought a 60 lb weighted vest from Titan. I did a 11 minutes KB lower body circuit then went for a walk with the vest. I put 20lbs in it after reading Your post. I walked the route that I walk with my wife which walking her speed takes a little over 30 minutes. It took me 22 minutes but I thought about going longer. It felt pretty good.

I've walked with a sturdy backpack filled with a 40lb sandbag. A good workout.

I found that a heavy rucksack was bad for my shoulders/upper back, a weight vest still isn't perfect but much easier. I've mentioned it a few times but the Norwegian army surplus rucksack is very sturdy.
Recently I started throwing my 56 lb weight again, it's just a mile to where I throw it and a similar mile back but that's a long way in your hands so I bought a rucksack to carry it. The Norwegian ones were kind of expensive this time so I bought a Czech Army one and it's absolutely horrible. I've actually taken to wearing it on my front for a short part of the distance to stop myself hunching over.
