As we used to say back in old NYC as kids.....'Flush twice, it's a long way to Italy !' You know that’s why it’s shaped like a boot ?...Because you can’t stuff that much shit in a sneaker I'm sure you can remember going back and forth with your friends as a kid....all telling the various ethnic jokes

I hear ya', I'm not afraid of 'high tech' hardware or methodologies but I just tend to take the most pleasure from simple things. Years ago I bought a high $$$ Yaesu shortwave worldwide receiver with all the bells and whistles. I took the time to master it's operation, yet I would still play around with cheapie portable am/fm radios looking for DX, you never know what you're going to hear...

Here's some good info on 'numbers stations' along with other niches within the radio hobby if anyone's interested... www.dxing.com/numbers.htm

...and as far as radio recommendations go, I picked THIS ONE up sometime last year and couldn't be happier with it... Especially since I got it for FREE when it got 'lost' in shipping and Amazon refunded my money.... I don't know where the hell it went on it's journey to my house, but it turned up on my doorstep about 2 months later

Hey moxohol,
Why this combo?
What nutrients in these two compliment or boost each other?
What is the benefit or effect?

The SW thing is still a security issue and here www.fbi.gov/history/famous-cases/ana-montes-cuba-spy is a classic example of a trusted American security employee being found out as a spy, using a Cuban numbers station(s) for communication. Did you ever keep a record of the frequencies you were on when you picked up the numbers stations ? Btw, do you ever rig up any additional aerial for fun, or just rely on the radio set's ?

Did you ever keep a record of the frequencies you were on when you picked up the numbers stations ? Btw, do you ever rig up any additional aerial for fun, or just rely on the radio set's ? I've never actually gone out and searched specifically for numbers stations, they were usually just stumbled upon when scanning through the bands. ...and no, most of the time I used radio's with an analog tuner, so while I could tell you what band I was on I couldn't tell you the exact frequencies the numbers stations were on. Hey, if you're interested in looking for numbers stations of just learning about SW in general, you can purchase this relatively inexpensive radio on the cheap; and while it doesn't cost a lot, with some patience it certainly has the capability of hearing lots of stuff out there. I have one for years and purchased it when they were about $15. The radio still operates perfectly and I still enjoy using it from time to time... Kaito WRX-911

...just keep in mind that SW listening isn't anywhere near what it used to be, these days it's mostly just 'dead' air, but sometimes you'll find some interesting things. This maniac was a fixture on SW for many years....
