I've never actually gone out and searched specifically for numbers stations, they were usually just stumbled upon when scanning through the bands. ...and no, most of the time I used radio's with an analog tuner, so while I could tell you what band I was on I couldn't tell you the exact frequencies the numbers stations were on. Hey, if you're interested in looking for numbers stations of just learning about SW in general, you can purchase this relatively inexpensive radio on the cheap; and while it doesn't cost a lot, with some patience it certainly has the capability of hearing lots of stuff out there. I have one for years and purchased it when they were about $15. The radio still operates perfectly and I still enjoy using it from time to time... Kaito WRX-911Thanks Mags. I was just wondering what your experiences were, from the SW point of view. I've got a 40-year old tape player with AM, FM, and SW on it and flip up and down on the dial sometimes. My FBI comment was only speculation, but over the years, without ever getting into the secret services but through one thing and another quite by accident (on my part), I've come under surveillance from time to time. My phone's been tapped more than once, and hey, I'm not even in any UFO society Probably not relevant where you are, but it's like the music jams I've had with popular groups like The Platters. NZ is a small country population-wise as well, and I was living in the capital city at the time, with only one music/jazz club, so when the Platters turned up after their gig downtown without their bass player, yours truly filled in for the evening. It's the same with the SIS and other sensitive areas. E.g. showing the US embassy's security officer around the building where the vulnerable telecom points were, just because my Faults area covered their embassy, and he asked nicely. 20 years later when the nerve (telecommunications) network of NZ was being privatized and sold off, my phone was tapped when I was making it hot for a Brit manager who was bullshitting the Auckland staff, just in case I was broadcasting something of national security, which I wasn't. That sort of thing.

Well my phone was fixed-wire. The tapping was obvious (to me) because of sudden deadening of the back-ground "sidetone". You know, the same sort of half-echo you get singing in the bathroom ? You'd ask "are you there ?" thinking the phone line had gone dead, and the other end would answer as clear as always. Re the cordless phones. "Bookmaking" which is private individuals running a horse-betting operation here in NZ is illegal. In the early days of the cordless phones, we had bookies noting down the houses that were vacant for a while, perhaps holiday weekend etc, and pulling up to the kerb outside with a scanner, using the house phoneline to take bets.

macky Here's another great one..... This always takes me back in my mind to being on the ship approaching Yokosuka Navy Base in Japan.....we were steaming along a river very early one Spring morning and were at our sea and anchor stations on deck. I was at the bow and it was raining hard as we passed a thick grove of trees and then there was a clearing and the huge Kamakura Buddha statue....it was almost surreal, so quiet.... except for the rain and this awesome statue. I can still see it today many years later www.japan-guide.com/e/e3100.html

Must have been stunning Matey. Seeing the statue come into view, over 800 years old, the silence except the falling rain....... Fab sounds. Just the right music for it all.

Lovely slow.....slow blues. I see he uses a capo on the neck of his guitar a lot. It's a great tool for playing in different keys without having to change the fingering. Also puts "shorter action" on the strings.
Nice stuff.

To be honest, I can't say I go with that, Mags. Talking like that over an easy laid-down beat isn't music. It's just rhythmic profanity. Just my opinion, though, that's all.

Between you and me, I really posted that video as more of a sarcastic political statement... Cue the Twilight Zone music: Imagine a country that’s now fully run by lunatic ‘leftists’, where something like that rap video is perfectly ok and un-censored, and any citizen of any age can have free access to it, yet Dr. Seuss books are banned because they’re “racist”, certain cartoons will have viewing age restrictions slapped on them because they’re now considered “too violent”, and major corporations go on a kooky Human Resources campaign instructing their Caucasian employees to be “less white”...
