...and so were our 7th grade P.E. teachers. Jumping Jacks and their many subtle variations are one hell of a way to build 'functional fitness' "hell" being the operative word..........

Funny, I thought "functional fitness" were the operative words. Guess you just hate jumping jacks like I hate burpees? Anyhow, yeah mags, jumping type exercises are good cardio/vascular conditioners ..... functional fitness . (Add in the battle rope/chain with jumps and you can really light it up.) I don't do jumping jacks due to an injury that makes them uncomfortable - same for burpees, but I wouldn't do burpees anyway.

These are the ones I'm doing at that moment. I like it. Iron Wolf is a class act and very polite. He doesn't trash talk or act like a home boy. This burpee has some variety to its components which helps with muscular fatigue while taxing cardiovascular conditioning. Have you done the Navy Seals' version? For me, it's pushup dominant so pushup fatigue becomes a limiting factor for me. I'm working on it. The ones I do almost always include a hands-extended overhead jump. Thanks for sharing.

No, I haven't tried the Navy Seal version. This version also has 2 pushups in each rep, but its not a limiting factor for me. I know this may sound crazy, but feet seem to be my limiting factor at this point. I haven't done any on my feet aerobic work in quite some time, so my feet and ankles are playing catch up.

They're all excellent, especially JJ's and Burpees. But they're hell. Just ask any asthmatic........

I was right? That's like saying someone who espouses weights for strength and muscle gains is right. Jumping jacks have been a staple since the dawn of whatever.
Anyway, I now use my elliptical.
