, I was actually expecting it Whiffet. He talks more about elbow problem problems but he shares how to hold or grip a bar. Posted it for Dave.

I've found that in excercises where the bar slips up the fingers (especially pullups and upright row), the position of the pinkie can help. This is what I do - it really helps me anchor the bar.

Thanks Michael, I've done a lot of farmers walks where the hand has opened up and I don't think it's ever caused any problem for me but next time I do it I'll try his finger wiggling and see what happens.

Dave the video talks about grabbing into the hand instead of the fingers. I'm not great at explaining it but it does make a difference. I have used this at work and with exercise. I can hang from a pullup bar for a very long time. The most weight I have is a 24kg Kettlebell. Using this technique with the KB for suitcase carries feels like I can hold it for every.

Then there's the Olympic lift hook grip that I haven't been able to successfully incorporate into my pull-up hang holds.

Hmm, lucky I guess. I've never head this pain from lifting. The only time I've gotten sore at that point is from arm wrestling. I do get some pain once in awhile on the outside of my forearm from higher rep deads or rows or probably any lift holding weight at arms length.
I do have strong hands though. Sometimes I will hang on a pullup bar by my finger tips and try to close my hand. I can't completely, but I can partway. I would think wrist curls wherein one unrolls the fingers might help strengthen and prevent the pain. I sometimes do those too.
