Things are pretty quiet here in small town Middle America. A number of businesses on Main Street have closed. Still no infection here. There are now 16 infected counties here in Kansas, and they are all to the East of us. I imagine CV-19 will eventually make its way here. We're sitting ducks. We sit atop the crossroads of two major highways through Kansas, North-South, East-West. We have a string of fast food restaurants along the highway, a truck stop, and a grouping of new 4-star hotels. The perfect place to stop in the wasteland between Wichita and Dodge City. Well there must be heaps to do in Pratt, Bruce. You could always really tie one on and sneak out after dark to view Pratt's brand new second set of traffic lights downtown.
I heard there was an underground domino game between some of the town's notables going on behind closed doors.......rumor has it that money's changing hands.

It's because Swobby landed on the East Coast in the same year as the gunfight at the OK corral, that Wyatt Earp was able to walk away unscathed. His NERVE FORCE was off the charts!

My neighborhood looks like a ghost town. Although people are walking at certain times during the day. I'm on call at work during the week. Still doing tree work on Saturdays.

Great. My wife spoke with someone this morning who works at the hospital. She said Pratt is totally unprepared. And further, someone from Pratt has been sent to Wichita for COVID-19 testing.
As of this morning, there are now 100 confirmed cases in Kansas. That's not very many in the overall scheme of things. Hopefully we've gotten a head start with cautionary measures and social changes. The bulk of Kansas residents live in teeny tiny little towns scattered out in the boondocks.

Talked to a client yesterday who works for a business that services hospitals. He recently spoke to a hospital doctor and the Coronavirus topic came up. He asked the doctor about it at his hospital. Doc said they had given 900 tests and had ZERO confirmed cases. ZERO.
You don't get news like this on the internet. This is definitely not an NYC outcome and maybe it's an outlier but thought this would be worth sharing.

Doc said they had given 900 tests and had ZERO confirmed cases. ZERO. YEAH!!! Where's the hospital? Just called my client again because I wanted to make sure I had it right. My client had spoken to a physician who shared that he (the physician) had spoken to an emergency room nurse manager where over 900 tests had been given and there were zero confirmed cases. The ER was in Placer County which is adjacent to Sacramento. This conversation was a week ago so I'm sure there's new information and perhaps some confirmed cases. This physician my client spoke with also shared that he and other physicians he stays in contact with had a conversation in which they shared none of the tests for patients they're seeing came back positive. Don't know any more than this.

Thanks for fact checking that, you ol' accountant, you. Well, Placer is there in the mix, not off the beaten track, so that is good news.
