I'm an intermittent fasting (IF) lifestyle practitioner and lately have been averaging a 19 hour day fasting period. Some people prefer to call this way of eating "time restricted eating or feeding" (TRF). Call it what you want; it's a good tool for losing weight and weight management. I've been doing IF every day non-stop since about the middle of September 2018 and I don't plan on stopping. It's no longer a chore but, rather, a convenience. I'm no longer losing weight but am in a 5-lb. maintenance zone (170-175 lbs.) This morning I was 170 lbs. My way of reference, I weighed 169 lbs. for my Army exit physical 44 years ago.
On another forum from which I was eventually banned (for being me), I have a cyberspace acquaintance from New Jersey that I was encouraging along and privately cheering for in his weight loss journey. After some infrequent PM exchange, I suggested he consider giving IF a try as he had hit a stuck point. Last week, he sent me the following PM:
"Just wanted to send you a warm thanks. 🙏🏼 Just hit my goal weight (179 lbs) plugged into the app over 3 yrs ago when I was still 274 lbs and wishing upon a wish. The last 60 lbs I’ve released were a direct result of the eTRF you educated me one several months ago. My girlfriend has lost 40+ lbs and my sister and brother-in-law are now testing IF to see how it can for in their lives. This is all thanks to your input and support from across the country. Just wanted to share the impact you’ve had on my life and those around me and to express my gratitude. Have a great weekend!"

Arguably time restricted eating has benefits beyond weight loss namely health gains . Hence it can be continued indefinitely .

The natural condition of Man throughout 99.9% of our evolution has been hunger/starvation/scarcity. Then we would pig out on fatty meat and organs when we finally got some. IF mimics how we were built to operate.

IF mimics how we were built to operate. The difference between then and now is that we now have cupcakes and chips and hot dogs to pig out on.
