Why do you have two X-5's? Ummmmmm.....one for the week and one for the week-end ?
Nah, actually I had won the 'Made In Japan' X5 in an auction, and when the opportunity availed itself to basically steal a different looking X5 that was in excellent shape I purchased it to see if there was any discernible difference other than cosmetic and the fact that it's 'Made In England'
.... and gosh darn it there is !

Is one better than the other? I'd say I like the more linear feel of the spring better on the Japanese model. That spring has a further range of motion in it's resistance. The English model spring resistance 'comes up' on you quicker, it's a shorter range before it gets into the tough area. For something like chest compressions and those sorts of exercises I'd say I prefer the Japanese X5 and for pulls I prefer the English X5.
The English X5 also seems to be made with closer tolerances in actual construction of the unit, there's almost no 'slop' when you grab it by the ends and try to wiggle the outer tubes against the inner tube, whereas the Japanese X5 has noticeable 'wiggle' as compared to the English one...That in itself isn't a deal breaker or deal decider though, I own and use both, switching back and forth, not sure which one I'd choose if I could only have one for some reason. I also use my Steel Bow 28 if I want a completely different effect, the spring in that thing is BEASTLY
I keep all of my Bullworkers, the Japanese & English X5's, Steel Bow 28, and my Brown Handle Bullworker in the bedroom closet, I use them a few times a week while having early morning coffee. The ISO-7X stays propped up on the wall next to my spring power twisters in the basement and gets used the least, usually just when I occasionally get on a power twister kick...
Like my ISO-7X my Steel Bow 28 was also under salt water during Hurricane Sandy and I resurrected it back into use as well. That should give anyone a testament as to how well built these units really are !!!
