BTW, that knife cost only $14.69. I found it on a website with hundreds of knives. It was so inexpensive that I ordered two knives so that I could decide which knife I like better. As it is, I like them equally as well. I was amazed when I received them within just a couple of days of ordering because they are so solid and well made. Both of them together cost almost half of what a Gerber would. And then there are those folding knives that cost over a hundred bucks. A waste of money! These bad boys are of the highest quality! They are both spring-assist which is legal and more efficient than a switch blade. Rather than pushing out on the thumb knob, you can just flick a lever with your index finger, and those blades just fly open and lock into place. They both have big, meaty handles that provide that all important, excellent grip. This is the other one I got: Here's the website I got them from: www.tigeredge.com/And here are a couple more websites I had found: www.budk.com/www.swordsknivesanddaggers.com/I have always carried a knife all my entire adult years. Back some fifty years ago the only practical knife of this sort was a Buck folding knife with a locking blade which I had for years. Keeping a knife on me just gives me a sense of security. Walking around recently in Las Vegas with my wife, having a knife at the ready gave me a bit of peace of mind. In all the years that I have carried a knife, I had to pull it out on three different occasions - once in Baltimore, and twice in San Francisco - and each time it was a deterrent. Now, I'm going to probably hear from the experts - Yeah, but it wouldn't do much good against a gun. No shit. It wouldn't do much good if someone pulled out a .175 ground-to-air missile launcher, either. The fact is that on three separate occasions it was a life saver, and i was so glad I had it on me. In the UK we have problems, with youths carrying knives. My thoughts on knives is if you are going to pull it, you better be prepared to use it. Problem here is, youths seem to lose their rational mind and use them in confrontations, or to gain status within their gang etc. Not to mention when a kid stabbed and killed a teacher a few years ago here in Leeds. I used to love knives when I was younger, affer seeing Rambo. Not as a weapon but as a survival tool which I was really into. Nowadays, kind of hate them thanks to the cowards mentioned earlier.

"...and each time it was a deterrent..." I agree, it stops an otherwise unavoidable situation.

I can't imagine you could produce enough speed by hand to do that. If you could get it to a few hundred degrees for 30 minutes you might mildly anneal it, but to ruin the temper you'd have to really get some heat on that. Can't see it happening by hand.

I hadn't mentioned this, but earlier this week I was browsing through the BUDK site and came across this, and fell in love: It is a spring assist folder modeled after the USMC K-Bar. It arrived this morning.

No way can that happen. The file would be so hot that it would burn holes in Brucie's wittle fingers. Anytime I sharpen a dull knife, I get an edge as quickly as possible to save time. It's common to use a file to start the sharpening process.

Normal people can own knives and guns and there is no problem at all, the trouble is all the idiots can own them too.

And booze, and cars, and turkey fryers, and pharmaceuticals, and getting elected tp public office, etc. But people who can enact legislation against things, will always have them for their own use.

Had to look that up as I tend to avoid the news. Another one, makes you wonfer just how many of these nutjobs are out there in the world.

Probably an anti Semite too.

Probably? Do you have some kind of evidence of him punching out a senior citizen that was simply wearing the wrong color ballcap with a logo he "found offensive" that you are making this judgement on? Oh sorry. I was thinking of the other antifacist (unless it's views they don't approve of) group, but they only attack in packs and wear hoods when they do.
