The guys who train for strength tend to do more exercises on their feet, and more compound movements, while the guys with the bodybuilder mindset generally do more seated and isolation work, trying to hit muscles from all angles.

I'd go for physique. Would rather have all the female attention that goes along with it.

Although I have already answered with strength, I would like to add a little more thought. I do not want to look like a bodybuilder, I once di but that is long gone. I DO want to keep my strength where I can, but I don't particularly want to train superheavy for it. What I do want is to be surprisingly strong, strong at awkward stuff, think a much lesser version of Steve Justa for the strength. I want to be able to continue to knock out 15-29 great form chin ups into my 60s, but also to be able to pick not too far off my bodyweight off the floor and put it above my head. To be able to one leg squat and so on. More this kond of strength than heavy deadlifts, squats and so on. I do want to look good, but want to be fairly light, lean and have a shapely wiry look.

Since in the real world superb health is not guaranteed, what style of training would increase your health odds? I choose a strength endurance combo ; physique enhancement has largely escaped me.

Honestly, thinking about some of the stuff Bruce wrote, either way I trained I really don't see much difference in strength. I guess it all depends on what You consider strong and how You would measure it. Everyone would have a different opinion. Besides, Whiffet makes a Good point, . When I first started training I trained for a good physique to attract females. , not that I ever had the greatest physique but I was hoping it made up for my ugly mug. This is a pretty thought provoking thread.

So you say. You can't help but enhance your physique through exercise, no matter what form of exercise you do. Health, endurance, strength, physique - they're all integral parts of the whole.

Exactly. Exercise for strength, eat real food. You'll look good. Chicks will dig your body initially, but your character and personality will determine how far she wants to go ....

Of course, my physique enhancement experience is unique to me so I can't make any general claims . I got my first weight set(barbell and dumbbells) as a pre-teen; I've consistently strength trained for well over 60 years .My only significant physique enhancement occurred in my teen years .

Turned 69 yesterday.....my wife and I went out for lunch, came home and had coffee and then I went out to the garage and had a nice workout Then I sat outside in the shade and enjoyed several cold beers I'm really enjoying my workouts and that's what's important to me Started recently working on doing a floor kip-up again.....have worked on that unsuccessfully several times in the past Watching the guys in the videos do them.....they make it look so easy, damn them ! I may never get the kip-up but it's a good workout just trying
