I pulled my rad beach bike out today for a ride and to my dismay, I could barely stretch my legs far enough apart to swing one leg over the saddle. And then I remembered a leg stretching exercise I used to do in Tai Kwon Do. You spread your legs far apart and squat down on one leg whilst stretching the other leg straight out to the side as much as possible, holding that position for a bit, and then you shift and repeat on the other leg, going back and forth in this manner. This not only stretches your legs, but it provides a good one-legged squat. Going back and forth, you eventually fatigue your thighs.

Similarly, sumo wrestlers will do typically a couple hundred shiko. When Steve Justa wrote about sumo regarding his "g-force training" he made it sound like they were really stamping down hard, but in fact the ball of the foot breaks the fall.

I think I've seen Steve Maxwell do this as part of his 'flexibility for life' thing or whatever he's calling it. It's a good one.
