Today I tested my pull-ups max reps for a single set. With the ghost of MBS in my background, I was mindful of doing them with a bottom hang. Didn’t do the “one thousand one, one thousand two” thing and didn’t record my effort done at a local park. Will do so eventually.
Completed 11 reps, tried for number 12 but made a “business decision” to call it quits, not convinced I could get that 12th rep. The weighted pull-ups work (2 workouts thus far) made a noticeable difference in me clearing the bar.
In other news, I tested bar dips and completed 16 reps. I’ll be testing the two regularly and see what I can accomplish by the end of summer.

Pavel's G-T-G would increase anyone's pull-up numbers faster than her program.

Today was 100 reps of alternating pull-ups and chin-ups in 24:44. I judge about a dozen reps towards the end could have been crisper but good enough to count as reps.
Working on making sure there’s a believable hang at the bottom of each rep.

Thanks. I am not sure of the weight, but I can tell you it is one of the rocks I brought back on my backpack on a bike ride - I have at least 60 though this is one of the biggest and so in my garage for the odd lift (most are in the rockery now hahaha). I think whwn I weighed it once it was 40 poinds or so, so not particularly heavy.
The heaviest I have done is a fep with 54kg, can't remember if that is on my Yoi Tube channel, but there are a few others.
When I was youngwr and more regimented, I would work up to a heavy single or maybe triple then after a brief rest do a bw set and feel like a feather for the first 10 reps or so, with my best being 23 reps.
Nowadays the heavy ones take more out of me, no way I could rep out after that. If I want to get close to 20 I do it as my first set now, it is its own warm up, but of course I am zapped after that!

I used to do china outside with my friend on his home made set up. Basic but great. I remember one Boxing Day, I was to meet my future wife's family for the first time later in the day, but first it was workout time. The bar was icy cold and the ground had snow on it. I was using one of those hooks advertized in the mags by Bill Kazmaier, had it hooked on my belt with maybe 20 to 30 kg on it. The belt snapped mid set, the hook dropped and slashed through my sweatpants before hitting the ground. Not to be inconvenienced, I continued my set without letting go of the bar, an impromptu drop set After I wrapped electrical tape arounf my leg, to cover the tear and we carried on with the workout By the end, I was hot, dirty and wearing tape-wrapped bottoms. My friend asked, "Are you going straight to your girlfriends from here?" I just looked at him...

Today, single set max reps test of standard-grip pull-ups - banged out 12 reps for a new best as a middle-aged man pull-ups comeback kid.

Pierini, Thanks for posting this. Did You get his 6 week plan for the pull ups? This reminds me of Dan John's and Pavel's philosophy.

Yesterday I completed 100 reps of alternating pull-ups and chin-ups in 20:51. Again, I judge that a dozen could have been crisper but would pass the county fair Marine booth test for a water bottle prize.
Will post a video before long for a form check inspection.
