Todd Hutching is a world class armwrestling legend in his mid 50s and notorious for his sheer power on the table. I think his take on daily training, pain and recovery is very interesting.
"You know what my body says I need cheetos, pornography and bourbon" "The people that listen to their body have a 55" television and a refrigerator next to it"
"you have to tell your body what it has to do"
"you listen to your body and your body and its central nervous system will try to protect itself" "it wants to be prepared if it has to fight or run away it doesn't wanna expend all its energy at one time"
If I personally always listened to my body and stopped training because of niggles, aches and pains in my shoulder, elbows, forearms, knees, lower back or wherever I wouldn't have gotten anywhere. I would still be a skinny nerd. If anything training through it, and strengthening the hurting areas improved me. Resting never got me anywhere when it comes to pain and inflammation. Just getting on with it, training despite and active recovery that's what helped me.
